Guest guest
I would suspect giving him only one dose of ALA a day rather than treating it as a chelater is going to cause problems. One dose is probably enough to pull some metals but not enough to excrete them, so they find a new place to bind to which could be brain tissue. If its mercury, that could cause regression. Do you know the low frequent dose of ALA protocol? If not I can direct you to some good info. no regular sleeping and other issues I've posted about my 22 month old son but not my 5 year old because his issues weren't that bad. Now he is not sleeping through the night. He may not have always slept through the night but now he comes in and wakes me to go lay down with him. He has to sleep on the playroom couch so he can bounce and relax enough to sleep. He does this several times a night which is pretty exhausting. He isn't potty trained yet but is at least telling me when he has a B.M. by saying diaper. He is always scratching his bottom and hates his diaper.. I've been trying to get him to go on the " big boy potty " but so far no luck. Does anyone have suggestions for his interrupted sleep and his irritated skin? Currently we just have him on his GF/CF diet and had been giving him Alpha Lipoic Acid with his morning juice along with a squirt of flax oil. Before school let out for the holiday he'd gotten some cookies with casein in them so his system was thrown out of wack. He had some vomiting and watery bm's. We weren't sure if that was due to the casein or if it was the stomach bug that was circulating through the school so we took him off everything but his GF/CF diet. Any suggestions? Thank you. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Milk, corn, phenol intolerance and yeast overgrowth are common causes of this. http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm > He isn't potty trained yet but is at least telling me when he has a > B.M. by saying diaper. At my house, scratching at the bottom meant yeast. > Currently we just have him on his GF/CF diet and had been giving him > Alpha Lipoic Acid with his morning juice along with a squirt of flax > oil. ALA is a chelator. What dose are you giving? Giving it 1x per day is not recommended. And, it will usually cause a lot of yeast. Guest guest
Does he scratch the whole area(diaper irritation)? Sorry to seem so blunt, but the first thing to come to mind is to make sure he doesnt have pin worms! Is he rashy around diaper area, or is the itching more direct! We also go through the not sleeping, but our sons is from gi cramping usually and has gotten better over time with improved gi. Pin worms are more commen in children than most realize! Dana Dana - we had been giving him 1 200 mg. capsul in his juice once a day. I haven't given him anything else since the bout with the stomach/bowel issues. How much is recommended and is it okay to put it in the juice? Terry Cole ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
> Dana - we had been giving him 1 200 mg. capsul in his juice once a day. I started my kids on 10-25mg per dose. I am an adult and it took me over a year to be able to handle 100mg per dose. I gave ALA 3x per day for my kids, altho some kids need it every 3 hours. Giving 200mg would have been disastrous. >>How much is recommended and is it okay to put it in the juice? I would give 25mg per dose, and at least 3x per day. Give it for three days, then let his body rest for 3-4 days, then start again. It also tends to demineralize, which for my son was good because he was mineral toxic, but most kids are deficient, so give minerals. And it does tend to increase yeast while metals are being excreted, so watch for that and increase the yeast protocol as required. http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Dana
Guest guest
It would be really nice if you could direct me to some good info regarding ALA dosage and how to use it as a chelator. Guest guest
Sure there is a whole bunch of great info at the autism treatment group. Most of its members are using ALA. The files have tons of info. If you have specific questions you can ask as many of the people on there have been using it a while. It would take sooo much space to give you all info on here otherwise I would : ) > > > > I would suspect giving him only one dose of ALA a day rather than > treating it as a chelater is going to cause problems.
