Guest guest
Methyl B12 shots have been huge for us, the best bang for our buck. We just started chelation, so we are excited about that. There are several suppliments that aid the Methylation process, TMG, folinic acid, AMG, methyl b12,zinc are a just a few. Every kid is different, so one of these may work better than another. Our kid is taking all of them except for TMG and AMG. I have read that for one kid....TMG was more effective than B12. Every kid is different. We give him shots at night, and use numbing cream. The needle is very small. He doesn't feel a thing. We are big fans of Meth B12!!!!! From: <gizbaby123@...> Subject: [ ] Thoughts on b12 shots? Guest guest
I second that. These were the best bang for our buck also.....I would def try them, you will need a script for them though or you can try the spray or oral without a prescription... Guest guest
Hi All! Now that you touch this subject.... I had a long talk w/the pediatrician this morning!..... [i don't want to go there anymore!]. My son is 3 1/2yrs old and says a few little words..like mom, dad, shoes, moo, meow, choo-choo, etc... maybe 3 or 4 more... So I asked this dr. to see if we can try MB12 shots starting with low doses and work it up from there.....and he said no! He doesn't really want to get involve or maybe help, not even try!.... So now I'm looking how to get them without prescription... in Latin countries [including Puerto Rico]this type of medicines or any type are so easy to get...is like buying candies! So...I'm thinking here....this is a vitamin come on! A lot of frustration here in this matter!!! I'm trying the liquid first and then the spray. > > I'm considering doing this for 30lbs almost 3yr old son. Guest guest
Try the liquid first or oral first. Sometimes ordering overseas you may not get what you think. Other than a stolen credit card number and some diluted B12. I would not do this. I would find a doctor who will do it if you want to do. After all your going to be injecting this stuff into your child, you want to be sure you know exactly what it is. And coming from some other country, it may not be. While it is just a vitamin as you said, the injection B12 is not just B12. Holistic doctors do B12 injections, so do DAN's you just need to find someone else. It is VERY common for peds to turn their back on you, after all they did give those lovely vaccines that got your kid like this. If they help you they admit guilt. Find someone else to help your son. I began chelation and supplements on my son at 3 1/2 and he's doing very well now at age 6. See how story and our progress. We had no doctor to help us. http://www.freewebs.com/mercurybabies/ Please find a doctor for the B12. Many parents do find some improvements with it but it is not a cure and does not usually yeild long term gains. > > > > I'm considering doing this for 30lbs almost 3yr old son. Guest guest
No legal way to get it without a script. There is a reason for this. > > I'm considering doing this for 30lbs almost 3yr old son. Guest guest
The Geiers warn against the cobalt which is in the methylCOBALamin B12. Check cobalt levels at regular intervals. Guest guest
Because people will give it when it's not needed, they will not be monitoring blood levels of B12 or cobalt levels, and also you can give the injection wrong. As I understand it needs to be given in a certain part of the muscle or tissue. Some probably know how to do this or were shown, but others who are not using a doctor...may not know this. Our holisitic doc does MB12 injections, she also does blood testing to monitor levels of it. You can overdo it even with a vitamin. Not something I'd try on a minimally verbal 3 year old. > > > > I'm considering doing this for 30lbs almost 3yr old son. Guest guest
I am only aware of getting these by prescription. My son is 12 and we didn't start him with these till he was 9 or 10. They made a HUGE difference in his social awareness...wanted to participate and play at recess, go to the movies with friends etc.. We now do these daily and continue to have success with them. Guest guest
I would actually begin the Vitmain B12 tablets first to see how your son reacts; sometimes the oral is enoguh; esp. the Vit. B12 subs; some children don't like shots; why not begin with the B12 subs; as far as the B12 shots for some children this is the best way; the shots are; and for some children the B12 shots are plenty the point is get the B12 tabs if not improvement beign the B12 shots; only under a docs supervvsion; glad the B12 shots helps the lad ! Vitamin B12 can make a big dif. in a child's learning ability as can The Vitamin B-Cmplex; iMY ONLY THOUGHT IS some kids dont' like shots; and for thosse children the B12 subs; tabs; liquids or patches; utism , " Tami Doran " <tjdoran5@...> wrote: > > I am only aware of getting these by prescription. Guest guest
Hi I personally feel that it may be better to start low on methylators. For instance giving mb12 sub-lingual in either a lozenger form or a spray under the tongue (which we used) and building up from there. You would have much greater control of the dosage and is generally less stressful for your child and you don't need a doc. Oral b12 would need about 8 times the dosage of the equivalent in injections for the same amount of absorption. I'm sure most people know that folic or folinic acid should be given as well and quite possibly Taurine. Not all kids can tolerate methylators, my son did well at first with mb12 then it seemed to do nothing and then he became quite irritable and a bit agressive(the same with DMG and TMG) with it which is not uncommon, if this happens and methylators are not cut back or possibly even discontinued it is my understanding that this could take up to a few months for the relevant symptoms to disappear after it's eventual discontinuation. Guest guest
Hello, What happened to us: I started my son when he was about 2 1/2. For us, MB12 was wow supplement. I was afraid of starting the shots so I tried first a high dose orally, the liquid drops from new beginnings (is very concentrated). I did not see anything. Since there was no bad reaction orally I started the shots every three days. I saw very little. Then I started the mb12 shots daily. WOW! great eye contact since then. Within 4 days of starting daily shots, he is looking directly at us all the time. Even therapists were amazed and reported to me. If I remove it, he regresses,(also reported by therapists) so we are planning to stay with it for a year. We rest from the shot now twice a week. Good luck. > > I'm considering doing this for 30lbs almost 3yr old son. Guest guest
We use B-12 drops. It's called Hydroxo-12 made by Scientific Botanicals, Inc. My son gets 1 drop (1,000 mcg) in his juice every morning.

Guest guest
We have been doing them for just shy of a year. We started last spring, before chelation. For our son, at least, initially they were wonderful, some hyperactivity, but we gave it with 5MTHF (active form of folic acid) and it was a great combo for him, got methylation going for him- language and a connection to his world were the benefits. It is a very small insulin needle used. We give it when he is asleep, and he does not even stir. It was still great for a few months into chelation. Now at this point they don't appear to do much. We are reconsidering whether to switch to oral b12, but he does have lots of gut issues, and a few tries with other b's led to out of control yeast, so we are hesitant. We just added in DMG into his supps, and this seems to have been helping as much as the shots once did, or perhaps the DMG works with the shots. Who knows. As to the concerns about cobalt - Initially, our son's cobalt was in the red on his hair test. A couple of months ago, we did another hair test, and cobalt was in the 50% right in the middle after several months of the shots. I did become concerned about previous posts and threads here on the " dangers " of too much cobalt. However, upon reading the Doctor's Data explanation about cobalt, it appears that there are two types of cobalt, and the type in the B12 shots as I understand it, is not the form one needs to be overly concerned about, I don't have the explanation in front of me, but perhaps it was one is organic, and the other inorganic? Anyway, that being said, I still intend to do another hair test on my son, to see where cobalt is now. If it has gone too high, we will need to address this. For now, we have stretched out the shots to once every 5 to 6 days instead of every 3, because this seems to suffice for him. Jan is correct in saying that bodily needs can change, and perhaps our son does not need as much as he once did. I wonder if Andy would weigh in on this. Also, has anyone encountered a point where it is not necessary to supplement with B12 at all? Irene

Guest guest
I just started my 3 yr old son on methyl-B12 shots. On his first trial he showed a lot of gains in speech, responsiveness, sociability, awareness, understanding etc. But we didn't continue immediately b/c I didn't understand the science behind it and had safety concerns. After some research, I feel confident enough to start my son on it, with caveats. Agree that Dr. Neubrander's website is essential reading. Go to the download section of his website for detailed information on the science and clinical experience behind methyl-B12, and he also lays out in exact detail his recommended protocol, including compounding pharmacies, types of needles, how to inject, concentration of B12, volume, etc. Also what I found very helpful in convincing me of the safety and need for methyl B12 is the book " Could it be B12?: An Epidemic of Misdiagnosis " by Sally M. Pacholok RN and J. Stuart DO. It places the B12 issue in a broader context and has useful chapters on autism also. Caveat is that there's some who have said that the extra methyl in the body would convert inorganic mercury into methylmercury, which is more readily absorbed by the organs. The holistic dentist Dr. Hal Huggins is apparently against all use of methylB12 on the basis of this risk. However, some exchanges on this group indicate there's some disagreement about the extent of this risk: About Huggins re B12 and mercury: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/15102.html Andy Cutler's response: http://onibasu.com/archives/am/15105.html Would be grateful if anyone has further information on this topic one way or the other. Also, if any information about cobalt risks is available, please post. > > > In a message dated 4/17/2009 8:31:53 A.M.
