Dayna,

Great PANDAS support and info here

From what you described, sounds quite possible.  There are some articles posted

about penicillan not being as effective as it once was against strep on forum

mentioned.

Seems some are seeing good results with azith.  Hope you get to the bottom of it

soon.

Subject: throat clearing ... tic or allergy?

Date: Monday, February 23, 2009, 6:22 PM

For the past few weeks my son has been continuously clearing his throat. He does

not do

it while he is asleep but he does it on and off all day long. How do you know if

this is a tic

or an allergy? My son was diagnosed with strep two weeks ago and he is currently

on

penicillin. This is his first case of strep. I know that strep can lead to

PANDAS and is

characterized by tics so that is why I am hyper sensitive to the throat

clearing. We have an

appointment with our DAN on March 9th but I was wondering if there was any

advise I

could get before the visit. Here are some other behaviors that have developed

with the

throat clearing:

jumbled sentence structure

inattentive

emotional and sensitive

aggressive play behavior (plays rough with toys but not with people)

spurts of hyperactivity

less social

dark circles/pale skin

gets stuck on play ideas

needs more proprioceptive input

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

At my house, this was caused by food issues and yeast overgrowth.

I eliminated strep with OLE.

The penicillin will probably increase yeast, so try increasing the

yeast protocol first.

Most of those meant yeast overgrowth here.
