Hi, you all have been so helpful and wanna say thanks!!! On a few recent

messages some of you were talking about the Yasko protocol and overmethylation.

I've read up on this in the file section on this group and have googled these

terms and researched as much as I can but have hit a wall. I'm always

researching everything, exhasting all options in hopes something out there will

help my lil Nick so, Yasko protocol and overmethylation are no different but

there is not much out there....

Can anyone hook me up with someone that can help me with this protocol. How do

I get started on this? Is doing a blood draw to check his histamine levels the

only way to " verify " his issues are overmethylation issues?

Just trying to get as much info as I possibly can. Thanks so much!!

, I don't know what you have learned on this issue. Here's

some of what I have learned:

About 20% of autists are overmethylators and hence respond the

opposite to some supplements as the other 80%.

Indications of overmeth: elevated neurotransmitters (serotonin,

etc.), multitude of chemical and food sensitivities, heavy body

hair, " nervous " legs.

Supplements to avoid: methionine, SamE, inositol, taurine, CoQ10.

Note that some supplements have added methylcellulose as fillers.

I've learned to avoid those.

Glycine seems to have a calming effect and some people take 1000 to

1500mg on an empty stomache. Also should take zinc, vits C & E.

I'm going to try L-histidine soon since overmeth=low histamine. I

posted a question about this a couple of weeks ago, but have heard

nothing.

's site Enzymesandstuff.com has some info.

Thanks for the info!! Have you seen these two links?

These give a pretty good description. I'm glad you guys mentioned

over and undermeth because it lead me to Pyrrole (sp?)Disorder and DS

fits that to a T. So, I don't know...one thing leads to something and

something leads to something else..so on and so on. I've started

giving him Zinc on and off within the past month and for some reason

it makes him sleep better and he's in a better mood too!!!
