Guest guest
Thanks Dana and , I will try that. I have that same raggedy cuticle thing going on most of the time. I am always working on the yeast, absorption, and I take C and B complex. , may I ask what amount of biotin your doctor had you taking per day? Warmest Regards Robin Little On Drs suggestion I started taking large doses of biotin - which kills yeast, but oddly enough a side effect for me was to reduce ragged heavy cuticle around my nails. Manicurists have always remarked about how much cuticle I have - its really noticeable but all of a sudden they pulled back and were nicely shaped. I can't lay it all on the biotin - I worked hard to get rid of yeast, so that would mean that all nutrients were being absorbed better - esp the B vitamins. I also take Vit C and Calcium daily among other things <danasview@...?Subject=+Re%3A%20nails%20growing%20-%20if%20companies%20mad\ e%20individual%20enzymes%2C%20etc%3F%3F>Biotin also helps create healthy hair and nails. At my house, ragged cuticles and hangnails were caused by deficiencies of folic acid and vitamin C. Dana
Guest guest
HI Robin Thanks Dana for reminding me - part of the reason for the biotin was yeast control but part was to help regrow hair. Biotin is apparently necessary for healthy hair and nails and I would suppose skin too. My Dr put me on a whopping 5 mg a day to start but it seemed to me that I started growing hair on my face with this dose and I dropped it back to 1 mg which is where I am now. On the Adoptbiomed list somebody was talking about using biotin to halt precocious puberty a while back so if it has some effect on female hormone systems you might not want to dose it so high. I had so many things going on when the Dr put me on biotin - turned out I had gotten a GI bacterial infection same as my kids. I think the GI tract coating from yeast and bacteria was blocking B vitamin absorption and my hair started falling out in clumps. Thats what finally got me to the Dr - I was taking handfuls of hair out of the shower which stopped within about 3 days of using antibiotic to kill the bacteria and taking biotin. Guest guest
, I know what it's like to lose hair like that..... I started taking biotin and it's really improving. I must have had some kind of infection that my blood test never showed..... maybe yeast,,,, but the biotin is really helping. cathy

I used 20mg biotin 3x per day for my son, when his yeast was really bad. Dana

Guest guest
This biotin/hair/candida/nails/cuticle thing is very interesting. Why did it take me so long to learn about this amazing biotin? I've taken mega B complexes for years and nothing has worked to fix my hair loss like biotin. Seems I've had candida for a long time.
