Guest guest
, I am so very sorry...death is so difficult, and your heart is heavy with grief! May God help you as you walk through your road of grief. Debby [ ] My last post Hi, all. Thank you so much for the support and kind words. My Steve died today at 1:45 PM surrounded by family and friends. He was 44 years old and was the best thing that ever happened to me in my entire life. I am devastated, but I have many friends and family members providing the support and love I need right now. It is four weeks to the day after he first told me he wasn't feeling well. We received word from the doctors that nothing was working. Last night the family told his doctor that Steve did not want heroic measures, so the decision was made to remove life support. Amazingly Steve was awake and coherent for a few hours, talking groggily with family, bantering with his brother, sharing " I love you " s with all of us. Then he slipped into a coma that sounded mostly like he was sleeping soundly. His brother and I, along with a few close friends, were with him when he passed. If we couldn't keep him, at least our family had the gift of having him back for just a few short hours last night. That is the memory that is the bright spot I want to keep from this whole nightmare. All of my best memories come from before Christmas, needless to say. My very best wishes to all of you who are battling and winning. I truly envy you and your loved ones that you caught this disease in time to treat it. Steve's doctors told us that it appears he had liver disease for some time, with absolutely zero symptoms. It broke my heart to hear that he could have been treated if it had been caught in time, but that most personal physicians don't do those necessary tests to find out if there is an active liver disease, unless there are symptoms. Talk about a catch-22. Anyway, I will post this message and be leaving the group. Again, thanks to those of you who provided in formation and kind words. I do appreciate you. And please know that you and your loved ones are in my prayers as well. All my best,
