Guest guest
Carnitine is next on my list of things to try. I know the dosage to take; but what I need to know is how long it takes before it kicks in. I read you should give it 6 weeks but I'd like to get some personal experiences. Thanks.. Guest guest
Beth; I use L-Carnitine or Carnitor (pharmaceutical grade) by prescription for insurance coverage. I am taking 330 mg three times a day. Its function is as a shuttle service. It helps get the raw materials from food into the mitochondria and also helps with cleaning up and moving out the waste from energy production out of the mitochondria. I have found it helpful, specifically with my GI tract problems Shepherd, Canada esp wrote: > From: esp <esp@...> > > Has anyone tried carnitine? Guest guest
Beth, I tried carnitine (pharmaceutical version) for @ 4-6 weeks when I was feeling my worst. It did not do anything for me. The higher doses seemed to increase the GI symptoms I was having. - -----Original Message----- >From: esp <esp@...> > > >Has anyone tried carnitine? Guest guest
From: Kathleen <weer@...> I don't suppose Carnitor's available in the U.S.? [Patti: ] Yes it is. It have prescription insurance, it should be covered.
Guest guest
From: Kathleen <weer@...> How do you obtain it? [Patti: ] Carnitine is OTC, but if you want your prescription insurance to cover it, you must get your doc to write a script for it. My doc was reluctant to write a script for it, but I asked her to run carnitine level tests, which showed me very, very low and then she had no problem writing a script for it. The PDR recommends 2 - 3 grams/day for people with low carnitine levels.
Guest guest
Yes, carnitor is L-Carnitine. By the way, I take 3g/day (9x300mg). Jim
Guest guest
Beth, is carnitor the same as L-Carnitine? If not, do you know the difference? I take 250 mg of L-Carnitine twice a day with no side effects that I am aware of. Guest guest
Anyone know the recommended ammount of carnitine for PWC's? Should you only supplement if you are found to be low by blood test? Also, anyone taking taurine? I take 1000 mg. a day. a
Guest guest
a, PWC's commonly low in taurine. I had what Cheney called taurine wasting. I was injecting taurine but now I just take about 4 capsules/day of Magnesium Glycinate Forte ( labs). Each capsule has 15 mg. CoQ10, 125 mg. L-Carnitine, 112.5 mg. taurine and 50 mg. of Magnesium Glycinate. I also take 1000 mg. /day magnesium malate which has more malic acid in it than magnesium. Steve B. Guest guest
Steve, What kinds of test did Dr. Cheney give you to determine what you needed to take those particular vitamins.I went to a well known CFS specialist who gave me blood and urine tests and just in the urine tests showed defiency in certain amino acids and he just pass it off and told me to eat more protein in my diet. He was not what i expected and i just have no luck in finding someone who knows what they are doing. Jill
Guest guest
Jill, Finding a dr. who knows something about CFS is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Give out the region of the country you live on the list and say your looking for a good CFS specialist. People on the list may have a good one near you. Steve B. Guest guest
What are the benefits in CFIDS with MSM. I read the lit. But Cheney also uses it. Is there more to it for us than what the common lit. describes? > >Also, anyone taking > >taurine? I take 1000 mg. a day. a > > a, > > I took taurine for a while and seemed to get a bit more energy. Guest guest
Thanks Steve. I live in New York City. Have traveled out of my state from the west coast to east coast because i found that so many doctors in New York City just ripped me off moneywise or nothing seemed to work for me. Last year I was sadly disappointed when i finally went to a doctor who was suppose to be so prominent in the area of CFS the way he conducted himself. I still find it hard to talk about. So to make a long story short if anyone knows of a CFS specialist in Manhattan, N.Y. I would so appreciate any input. Jill

Does this kind of thinking make sense? Carnitine can help with muscle tone issues, so it does make sense. It was also required here for proper absorption of fats, vitamin C, B12, folic acid, and TMG. Guest guest
I just wanted to know what brand of L-A carnitine everyone is using I had one that I got from kirkmans 250mg (good n Natural) but it had rice flour in it so I have now bought the one from now 500mg, I read not to buy ones in big containers as they are meant for body builders but I thought that this one was a cleaner one than the one I had, is this one okay?
