Hi Listmates,

Got an urgent question and wonder if anyone can help.

My DAN has prescribed Gentamicin for my son (18mg every 8 hours)3 times each

day, for 7 days. I wonder if the antibiotics has to be given at EXACTLY 8 hour

intervals? I have a problem with the last dose of the day on this 8 hours

schedule because I have to wake him up for this last dose and it then becomes a

real struggle getting him back to sleep. I have already started on the course

and last night he stayed up and cried for a long time after being woken

up.......... .and now I feel so sleep deprived.

Any input would be greatly appreciated! !!

Many thanks

No it does not need to be exact. Give it 8, 2, and 8. You may give it earlier

if he is up. Separate the doses by 6 hours at least if you can.
