Guest guest
My son is only tolerating a few foods and just came back with a positive strep test. He has very high oxalates and was in pain until several months of GAPS (diet very similiar to SCD). He has wetting accidents from bacteria which have improved to about once a day. I don't think he can tolerate OLE due to it causing stomach pain in the past. What is usually recommended for strep in this case? I am starting to learn about the complications of strep. He is only on LDN, small amount of probiotics and homeopathic Biosode support with Bach Flowers which includes liver, kidney and intest. support. He also has problems with phenols. On the Great Plains OAT several of the vitamin indicators were high and the rest was normal with the exception of pyridoxic being a little low. The CSA did not show any beneficial flora and imbalances in Bacillus spp. 2+, Klebsiella pneumonia 1+ and Hafnia alvei 1+. I am unclear how these imbalances would effect treatment. A call to the DAN with suspects of strep gave me these recommendations to try. Salt water, Biocidin from BioBotanical Research or Goldenseal or shot. Pediatrics gave us a prescription of penicillin 500mg for 10 days. I called and asked if they would do a shot. Reluctantly they would give shot of Bicillin Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated Melinda
Guest guest
Strep, in my house, is a call to arms. It landed us in the hospital all of last summer since, with my daughter, it doesn't show up on the throat culture immediately (if ever). It manifests in illness that makes her unable to walk as it " hides " in her back and abdomen, and unfortunately, her brain. This is difficult to relay to the pediatricians, since we see a " group. " If her primary is on staff at the time, no problem, but even having her (massive) chart in front of them, the team pediatricians from the same clinic look at us like we've go two heads when we say she has strep, we know it, it won't show up in the throat always..... and I believe the years of not treating it properly has caused this deep seated condition to occur. That said, we've used every antibiotic available for strep.... and she has become seriously allergic to the penicillins and cephalosporins as a result .... and still the strep comes back... The last bout we were given a Z pack Azithromytyn. I loathe antibiotics for my family, but in the case of strep for her, it is a must. And the Z Pack was the best, a five day treatment that completely eradicated the strep vs. the multitudinous 10 day treatments that she has taken (not to mention the IV cephalsopirns that she was on in the hospital that caused her to have the most serious allergic reaction I have ever seen. ) She hasn't had a recurrence since March, since the Z Pack. (Please, I'm not saying it is a miracle drug, just worked for us so far.) Ask your pediatrician about the possibility of using a less " broad " antibiotic (which cause a host of side effects) and using a more targeted one (with fewer side effects) like the Z Pack. (The Bicillin that they offered you secondarily is simply a more robust form of Penicillin, one that is used to treat syphilis) Good luck, alex ( P's mom)
