Guest guest
WOW, such inspiration for a first email this morning lol. I definitely will be in Durham for the support meeting. Again, I have two very nice dresses, one is an 8 and the other is a black sequence dress that I think is a 10. Both would make very nice Christmas gowns. Anyone interested? aW MGB 5/28/00 214/115ish lbs RE: Sometimes Sometimes Sometimes ... when you cry ... no one sees your tears ... Sometimes ... when you are happy ... no one sees your smile ... Guest guest
Hang in there " Bentfeet " - Things will get better. Be sure to tell your doctors if you continually feel really down. There are antidepressants that work wonders. But if you are like me, that was just a really bad day and things are looking better. I hope that's the case. Guest guest
I read your previous email and accidently deleted it instead of reply. I have twin girls who will be 3 in March also. Both of them have been diagnosed as PDD-NOS. One is more severe and may be classififed as autistic. She is basically nonverbal but recently is trying to say a few words although they do not sound much like the word. Sometimes she will give me a kiss on her own but mostly when she wants something. The other twin is talking but mostly repeating words you say but will occasionally tell you what she wants. Both have DT and speech. OT for awhile until the therapist quit. I have had them on a GF diet and saw some improvements. I took them off around the holidays to see if I saw a change--no change. They have become extremely fuzzy eaters. I struggle to hide GFE, lysine, biotin and threelac in their food. We just started taking enzymes. I am reading 's book and it makes sense so far. One will take the chewables and the other will take it in chocolate wafers I make. Both girls have red dots on their butts that their Ped said was yeast. The ointment he prescribed has not helped. I am trying epsom salt baths. No changes yet. Are you doing any supplements? April maggie_orourke <maggie_orourke@...> wrote: > > Yesterday he dropped something on my foot and when I said, " OW! Guest guest
Hi Le , My ds is 11. He has empathy, he wants to engage, he has lots of behaviors that kids with autism aren't supposed to have, yet he has great deficits overall. My personal theory is that most of our kids aren't autistic. They are physically damaged. The medical field has no label for this, plus they have no idea that this is so, so they just call it autism. We saw Bryna Segal, one of the " world's leading autism specialists " when he was 4. She said he was not autistic. I said, " so what is he? " She said there is no label for what he has today. She said to just put him with typical kids and he'd be fine. Fortunately we didn't listen to that part, he isn't able to just " asorb " what's around him, he has needed extensive intervention. Every other professional assessment he's had says he has autism. Your sons probably act depending on how their body is doing that day, like most kids. You might try a supplement or two and see if they respond. My son's first was fish oil and he still takes it, it really helps his focus. Epsom salt baths are easy, and may be benefical also. Kudos to you on the diet support, that is important for any child. Best wishes, Sometimes Posted by: " Le " leannalp@... leannalp Fri Jan 18, 2008 7:02 pm (PST) I have an odd question and I'm wondering if anyone else here experiences this with their child? I have twins, will be 3 in March. They are currently in speech and occupational therapies. We have not done any supplements, but we have pinpointed some foods that we think they are intolerant/sensitive to and have cut those out with great results. Sugar, MSG, food additives, some dairy. One twin is PDD-NOS with probable ADHD. For the most part, he is " with us " everyday - interacting, imaginary play, highly talkative but not yet verbal...some words we can understand here & there. Our other twin has mild to moderate autism. When they were both evaluated by the psych, he said it was VERY difficult as to where to place them on the spectrum because he could tell they COULD do some of his tests if they wanted to...especially this guy. The psych had reports from speech & OT stating things he will/would do with them but he refused with the psych. Hence, the mild to moderate. For us as parents, since we spend every day with him, it is even hard for us to figure this guy out. Some days he is in a " zone " and not quite here with us. Gets into anything and everything he knows he isn't supposed to get into (including danger items), bangs his head on the couch (he's learned the floor and walls hurt!), spitting out juice or water everywhere, trying to bite his brothers, banging into things like he can't see them, etc. Typical things that look like stimming. On other days, like yesterday, he's a happy go lucky kid. He will listen to verbal commands, use his sign language, seems to want to talk, doesn't bang his head, doesn't get into everything, doesn't spit!, none of his " usual " stimming, and is generally fun to be around. Yesterday he dropped something on my foot and when I said, " OW! That hurt! " he actually got down and kissed my foot. Any other time, he wouldn't have cared if he hurt someone. Yesterday he also brought something to me to share, rather than to fix or get help for....something the psych said kids with autism won't do. My DH suggested today about getting a brain CT scan of him thinking that there could be a tumor or something pressing on his brain causing the things we think are " stims " when it could be something else. So what do you think the deal is? Do your children change from day to day so drastically? Thanks for any information. Le
Guest guest
Where to begin. To start off with we had a sweet baby boy who over te past two years was a normal child, till he went to is on little world he stop talking, and grow distance. We had a hard time potty traning and geeting him to where clothes,we thought with a good start in school at a young age who help him and it did we finally got him to where clothes and got him potty train it took years to do we new early in life he was autism before dr's told us.we did know what we where up against but we face it head on took him took different dr's and got help and it help him for a while till he reach purety and then it got worse and over the years aound 12 we where face with seizures and we had to go thourgh alot of med to get the right one,we almost lost him with a bad seizures but he pull thourgh and then in the last year or so his behavior has gotten worse day by day we are lost with what he is capable of doing he is self abusive violent and in rages with himself and can be with his dad.We have found a place that can help him but we dont know if it will help or make thigs worse then they are we dont wont him thinking we dont love him when we take him and drop him off for how ever long it takes. But we face the behavior and welook for them cause in a second he can be happy and change to mad. We have to do so much in things that we dont understand to dig holes in yard to bury toys,to taking toys apart to fix them on others.....We have to sew hats and shirts and other stuff he takes things and has us to cut them so he can rip them to they are nothing to watch him hit his self to hit his head or grab at your wrist to hit is ears with hand.We have to watch to make sure he dont hurt us or our daughter...............We are just so lost we dont know what to do we dont know what going on in his head that makes him do this things and wont whats best for him and for our daughter not to see these things to upset her and we dont know if putting him somewhere is the answer or if the worse cause it a chance he wont ever be able to come home or to understand that we are doing it beacuse we love him and wont him to get better so he can come home.............I know that it hard on us and other family with kids with autism and i know they are like us lost ..........We just love him and we cant stand to wait and watch him hurt himself or others around.................................he can be sweet and lovable and he can be moody and they are real bad im not saying he is not sweet cause he can be and he will always be my baby....................................
