Guest guest
My daughter wore a robe she got for Christmas before washing it and it was flame resistant. Now she has a rash all over her body, could the robe cause this?
Guest guest
It could very much be it or did she eat something different than usual? > > My daughter wore a robe she got for Christmas before washing it and it was flame resistant. Guest guest
I remember reading something about how to wash it to get rid of the chemicals. If anyone knows what to use, pls let me know. No, she did not eat anything different. I think it must be the robe. Guest guest
This is how you get rid of flame retardents from clothes: By washing the clothes atleast 5 times with Washing soda(Arm and Hammer brand). You can also add vinegar. Please note it is washing soda and not baking soda. We got Washing soda from Nob Hill. I think Safeway also carries it. > > > > My daughter wore a robe she got for Christmas before washing it and > it was flame resistant. Guest guest
Hi, From what I've heard besides the flame-proofing there could also be insecticide on it, among other things (used so the item doesn't get eaten before it gets to the store from wherever it's made). My brother used to be sensitive to what my mom called the 'sizing' (stiffening agents) used on clothing back when everything was made here in the USA, so everything he wore had to be washed before wearing. Hope this helps. Guest guest
is right. It is better to wash new clothing before wearing. Think about where all it was before you got it. So many people int he store would have touched it, it would have fallen so many times off the rack, someone would have stamped it... always best to wear new clothes before wearing them. > > From: Corina <cnegri@...> > Subject: Re: flame resistant material > > Date: Sunday, December 28, 2008, 1:10 PM > > My daughter wore a robe she got for Christmas before washing it and it was > flame resistant.
