Guest guest
Some suggestions. First up his Magnesium intake till he cannot get constipated, You might want to try this on a Friday night. Next, give him some time release melotonin so he is not acting out because of lack of sleep. His mood swings is because of meds or is it due to pre puberty? I have a 10yr old who is very mellow with me but have started to answer back and I am guessing this is due to prepuberty. Mine was a great sleeper until recently. I have started giving him 200mg and some biotin before bed and this has been working. But some days, I will have to use melotonin. Good luck. Don't give calcium at bed time. You might want to add some probiotics. --- mjwojciak <mjwojciak@...> wrote: > We have 2 autistic sons, 11 & 14. Our 11 year old > has been a handful > for the last 6-8 months. Guest guest
Thank you, We have been giving Calcium and the B vitamins before bed. We will stop. What does the Biotin do? My son sounds exactly like yours. Hormones are definitely a factor. It is so frustrating because for 5-6 days last week he was soooo good and then BOOM! We do have Biobeads, S. Boulardii & Klaire's Vital-10. We have been using them on and off, but more consistently over the last 2 weeks. Maybe he his having some sort of Detox or Dieoff reaction. He has gotten some eczema patches on his shoulders the last few days. Hew always seems to get them when he is having a difficult time. What is the best time to give the probiotics and can you give too much? Thanks again, Ellen > > > We have 2 autistic sons, 11 & 14. Our 11 year old > > has been a handful > > for the last 6-8 months. Guest guest
Hi!! Sorry for the no sleep, that can make things so hard. It sounds as though you are pretty up with the supplements, but I did want to mention about the calcium, it can be very constipating. I dont think we need as much calcium as they say even while taking magnesium. Also, aloe vera juice can be calming and help with the constipation also. It is a natural anti inflamatory! This time of year seems the worst for some of our kids with all the virus's floating around. Maybe adding vitamin C well help some and also well loosen stools! I hope you get some sleep! As of a week ago, we thought we had finally gotten everything under control: sleep, digestion, behavior, etc. He had his best week of school for the entire year. Then last Saturday all h$ll broke loose again. Mood swings, not falling asleep for hours, constipation etc. We has started b6, magnesium along with Vitalzyme about 2 months ago (along with several other supplements). He also takes Risperdal, .25 mg, 2xs a day. Over the last few days, his stools have been a soft, mushy, yellowish brown. We think going to the bathroom actually scares him; hence the the apparent constipation. Sunday, he did not have any bowel movements. We give about 400mg of magnesium and 1000mg of Calcium already. He refuses to go to sleep, often hopping out of bed aggressively for several hours. We had been giving 5-HTP, 100mg, 1 hour before bed and it worked wonders for several weeks. Last night, after 2 hours of episodes, we finally gave him 3mg of Melatonin. He fell asleep after an hour, but was up again in 6 hours (4:30am). I know this post contains scattered information, but any help would be a Godsend. The psychiatrist answer is to throw drugs at us, and we do not want that option. Ted did get some " organic " French Fries containing Canola Oil for several meals over the weekend. This was the only food added to his diet which was new. Please, any help would be greatly appreciate. Ellen --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Give the B6 in the morning, and you may need to reduce the dose. It can cause wild hyper and sleeplessness for some kids, especially those who are phenol intolerant. It also tends to increase yeast, which can cause hyper/sleep issues also http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm > the apparent constipation. So therefore, for 1000mg calcium [which is the high end of normal], you would need to give at least 500mg magnesium. Try doubling the magnesium, that can help. Eczema is a common symptom of intolerance, either of a food or supplement. Dana
