Guest guest
Hi, Our daughter is finishing up 5th grade this year and our pediatrician is recommending the following immunizations (she is fully immunized except the 2nd MMR, which she will not be getting): Dtap (grown-up version of the DTaP) Meningitis Chicken pox booster I know she's due for the 1st as a booster (and they're including the pertussis for teens and adults since it's coming back due to lapsed immunity). The 2nd they're recommending because she'll be entering a larger/new germ pool when mixing with students from other elementary schools (we live in an area with a lot of international students, if that is at all relevant to this). The doctor said by giving the tetanus and meningitis shots the same day it appears that there is a better response to the latter than if they were given separately. The 3rd is recommended because the initial one apparently does not last and of course chicken pox (or any of the " childhood diseases " in an older child is more likely to be serious than in a younger child. He says there is no mercury in any of these, but I am still not sure what to do regarding these. Any suggestions? Thanks for your help.
