Guest guest
Hello! I am new here and would like to try enzymes for my 10 yo son who has Aspergers. I have been researching Enzymes for a couple weeks, but the more info I find the more confused I get. I talk to my son's Pediatrician today, and she suggested starting w/ Zyme Prime. The problem is that it says it firms the stool & shouldnt be used if they have constipation, which my child does lean that way. For those of you who have tried Zyme Prime, does it really firm stools alot? I dont want to give him loose stools, so Im not sure what to do. Also, how do I know what product form Kirkland's or the other Enzyme Company is similar to Zyme prime(at Houston Enzymes)? Also, did I understand that you can get samples from the companies, to see if they work? If any of you have enzymes you started with that worked well, please let me know. Im just so unsure of which one to start with... Thanks so much!! Robin

Guest guest
Hi Robin, Normally I just have you email me your address and I would send then out but I won't be working for the next week. Out of compulsion I checked my email one last time. But please feel free to email tammy@.... She knows about this wonderful group and is one of our technical advisors at Enzymedica. So feel free to ask her any questions. She will probably recommend Lacto as a starter enzyme because that is normally what DeFelice recommends. But it's up to you. Some parents just go straight for the DigestGold. DigestGold is the most potent broad spectrum enzyme on the market! But some start off with 1/3 of a capsule and work their way up to a full capsule. Sorry I can't send out the samples myself at the moment but I hope this information helps! Alessandra Enzymedica's Education Department > > Hello! Guest guest
Hi Amy, Thanks for letting me know this. Did you switch to another enzyme or add another one to ZP, when the constipation became an issue? Thanks, Robin > ZP did firm DS stools quite a bit and we started w/ constipation. > amy >

Guest guest
Hi Amy, Thanks for letting me know this. Did you switch to another enzyme or add another one to ZP, when the constipation became an issue? Thanks, Robin i stopped... interestingly enough, i had a phone consult w/ Dorfman, nutritionist yesterday and we talked a lot about the hows and whys of various supplements and why they don't work if a child has had constipation since birth- there is usually yet another underlying issue (in addition of the yeast..ie: what is causing the yeast.) so if you can fix that then you can take better advantage of enzymes AND other things. not saying to rush out and do a consult but if you have a DAN! doc or someone that you work with it could be worth it. is 8 and we did enemas when he was even 6 months old I think. if you haven't TRIED ZP yet--- do it...just do in small doses. I did the powder or broke apart a capsule i think... and just did a wee small tad. but it does constipate. Dr. Houston explained the WHY on all this in the chemistry - i had trouble following (and I have a technical background LOL)... if you don't have an extreme constipation issue it could be worth it.
