Guest guest
Hello all. Here's the very quick and dirty on my kids and where we're at with yeast. 3 1/2 year old - no formal dx but was slipping away 18 months ago and we started working with a DAN. Virtually zero symptoms of anything spectrum related left. Found a ton of yeast in his testing. Did one course of Nystatin with great/violent result. 2nd course for yeast was GSE and similar result. Switched to ThreeLac and seem to be in a nice groove - concerns that perhaps we've hit a plateau and maybe we need a jump start? 7 year old NT son with yeast issues (took him to the DAN for well being/overall health). Found very high arabinose in his urine. DAN suggested we start Nystatin but we're not big fans of it and wanted to try Threelac. Still wearing a pull up at night due to being such a heavy sleeper and at times he's very fidgety. DAN also feels that the overnight bedwetting could be yeast related, as could the fidgetness. I have a phone appt with the DAN on Friday to get on the same page with both boys at this time. Will be doing an in person physical exam with them in a few weeks after an updated round of blood tests and urine. What I'd like is some guidance or commentary on the yeast regimine we are doing. Is it possible to get too used to threelac? Should we be adding biotin or gse or both? I would really like to avoid Nystatin if possible. Are biotin or gse available in chewables or easy to swallow capsules? I know the GSE is horrible tasting in drop form. I'm so reluctant to STOP the threelac because we do feel it keeps things calm in both boys. But I'm wondering if their systems need a jump start/jolt with something new. Any thoughts appreciated. Is it possible to get too used to threelac? Some kids, especially strep/PANDAS kids, don't tolerate it. >>Should > we be adding biotin or gse or both? Biotin was essential here. I gave GSE if I could not control the yeast with just biotin. >>Are biotin or gse available in chewables or > easy to swallow capsules? Biotin comes in tiny capsules. You can put GSE drops into a capsule, that might work for you. Dana
