What could be the reason for my son's recent bad sleeping habits. He is 13 yrs old. He can't fall asleep like he used to at 9pm. Last night he was up until 5am and when he finally fell asleep I did not have the heart to wake him up for school, first day back after the holidays was today. Is there a particular supp that may cause this? Or one that I should give more of? Please any info is appreciated. The last few nights have been exhausting. I am sleep deprived and more importantly so is my son. Thanks and Happy New Year to all! Heleni
Guest guest
Our son is only 4 years old but our homeopathic doc said that giving him calcium, magnesium and vit D at night would help him with sleep. I am new with the biomedical treatments so I am sorry, I don't know any more than that...good luck!!! What could be the reason for my son's recent bad sleeping habits. He is 13 yrs old. He can't fall asleep like he used to at 9pm. Last night he was up until 5am _ Mold and mildew are more active at night. So, for some people, staying up until close to dawn is due to mold or mildew growing in or near their sleep area. Some people have cured this by taking books off the headboard, washing all bedding, and generally cleaning the heck out of the bed, bedding and bedroom. I threw out my contaminated mattress. Mold and mildew had gotten into the mattress itself. I was staying up until 7am most days. Good luck with this. Guest guest
Parasites like pinworms are active at night. You can google it and ask him if he has any symptoms. Guest guest
I am really worried now. His mattress is about 5years old but I keep his room very clean, spotless. Regardless of that we will still go and buy him a new one. What are some of the symptoms for this? He has not said anything to me. Guest guest
Hi, Heleni. This thread might help you in figuring out if your son has pinworms: http://www.mothering.com/discussions/showthread.php?t=769115 For mold etc, in mattresses, do you have an allergy cover on it? There are ones that you can encase the whole mattress yet lets the mattress breathe. On Mon, Jan 5, 2009 at 3:13 PM, Heleni & Nick Babalis <chomedeysaints@... > wrote: > I am really worried now. Guest guest
I use a product by NOW called True Calm. I give this about 1-1 1/2 hours before bedtime along with an Enzymatica Digest Gold. Right at bedtime or shortly before I give 1/4 of a 3mg Melatonin tablet. I just break the 3mg tablet into 4 small pieces and one Enzymatica Acid Smooth. I also try to limit food & mainly fluid intake before bedtime. Occasionally, if my son has a headache or minor sinus issues, I will give one coated aspirin. We keep a strict night time schedule. Dinner at 5, shower at 6:30 and bedtime at 8:15. I try to limit TV to only 1 hour after diner and NO computer/internet after bath time. My kids can sense my wife and my anxiety like a smoke detector. We try to remain very calm and peaceful, especially after dinner. Mike
Guest guest
Dear Heleni, Do find attached an article/presentation i made during one of our support group meetings in Nigeria. My son that recovered from autism had no sleep issues but the clients i have been treating that had sleep issues did well on Gluten free casein free diet, epsolm salt bath or magnesium supplement, melatonine and behavioural modification althogh most of them with this issue were below 6yrs. Is he verbal, if he is, do ask him how he feels, any pain in the tummy, any worries? any bullying ? anxiety? stress ?, Sometimes food allergies ?fungal or bacterial infection? can contribute to that. Doctors data can do a quick comprehensive stool analysis which can be out within one week if you do wish to go through this. Sometimes, if possible , you might want to stop the supplements he is taking, and give one at a time with one week spacing to note if there is any supplement he is no longer tolerating that could cause this problem ? A 7 yr old at the center benefited from this. I hope this article helps and your son gets better. Yours Sincerely, Doris ________________________________ From: <elizabethsoliday@...> Sent: Monday, January 5, 2009 10:38:30 PM Subject: [ ] Re: son not sleeping Jen, I think that's a good idea. > > > > Hi > > This was asked before by many parents, I am sure, I just can't > remember what the responses were.
