Same here. I don't do anything for 101 or less. The fever is there for a

reason and by treating a fever this low, you are interfering with letting the

fever and the body do it's job. Anything over 101 he gets a tepid bath,

and stays in atleast 30-40 minutes. I add more warm water as necessary so

it's not cold. It takes atleast 20 minutes to lower the core body

temperature.

If it gets up to about 103, I give my son Bella Donna. If it hits 104, he

gets dye free motrin and the doctor gets a phone call.

controlling a fever

Hello

I'm interested in what other use to control fevers and viral infections and

pain. My 2 yr old son is very sensitive to most meds but also very sensitive to

salicylates. I dread him been ill and try to avoid meds but with fevers theres

no choice. I also reaaly feel for him when he is ill as most children are just

given a dose of paracetmol and they feel better.

I personally wouldn't intervene with a fever until it reaches 105 (my son

doesn't get seizures). I've had 106 myself with no intervention. A fever is

the best way to kick out a virus. My son is a " viral kid " and didn't get fevers

at all for several years. Once his immune system began to heal, he began

getting fevers, and they always lead to big gains. I've come to really

appreciate what a blessing fevers are. However, if a kid has seizures, that

can be a totally different situation.

BTW, Motrin is extremely harsh and damaging tot he gut lining so I wouldn't give

it lightly. It's still better than Tylenol, but not good.

At my house, if the fever is really high, I use Motrin. Usually tho, just

Virastop and/or OLE. Adding the correct anti-viral is also helpful, altho

sometimes it is difficult to determine whether the virus is susceptible to

vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin D, or lysine. My son needed high doses of all

four of those to eliminate all the viruses in his brain. But Virastop/OLE will

help also.

I'm still learning about this stuff, so I don't know the answer. A friend of

mine runs a web site www.holisticdiva.net she's a genius. She'll know what you

can use. She has an autistic child, but even before she had her she lead a

holistic lifestyle. I saw that you're in the UK... I'm not sure if you guys have

these chains or not, but we have a chain called The Vitamine Shoppe. They have

a huge selection of holistic " Medicines " and they all say what they are used

for. They're these tiny balls that look like pearls...my kids think they're

candy. You just drop a few on your tongue until they melt. I hope you find what

you're looking for...it's hard watching your kid suffer

My son was like this at first. His immune system was compromised and when he

had a fever, it helped the immune system fight off the viruses in his brain.

But eventually, his immune system shut down entirely, and then he was never

sick, the viruses just went straight into his brain and his body stopped trying

to fight them off.

I used OTC anti-virals to eliminate the viruses and correct his immune system.
