Way OT: AlphaSmart vs. EEE Pc?

Hi,

 

I have seen discussion of the former group of machines (AlphaSmart) and just

became aware of the latter group of machines in sale flyers today. I am trying

to figure out which would be the better value. As we need internet access as

well as document-handling, I am leaning toward the latter, but don't want to buy

something that I will regret later if it does not do (or at least do relatively

well) all the various things it claims to do.

Anyone have experience or other insight into these machines? The Eee comes in

both MS-compatible and Linux, but the former only has Microsoft Works, which I

don't think is the full package. Any thoughts here besides between the 2

machines?
