Did he have a fever? My son always gets better for a few days post fever, I

am told this is due to a virus and we need to do a viral protocol which we

wills start Christmas break.

I noticed this frequently, when my son no longer needed a supplement.

I removed most or all of them, waited several days to a week, then

added back one at a time, to determine which one/s he no longer needed.

I am starting to think that when they are challenged by changes -

either adding supplements, enzymes, etc. or subtracting them - it

can give their system a jolt that can often be positive. You know

how the first time you try a new diet you can get an immediate

result and the second time you don't? I think it's kind of like

that. Once your body adjusts to something you lose that " wow this

is new " reaction.

I got a big, positive reaction when I started enzymes and after 6-8

months, I stopped and didn't see any drop in functioning. Now I am

using more vitamin supplements and seeing an upswing with that. I

wonder if parents who have staggered initiation of various

treatments would see more of an upswing by each addition? Obviously

this is not a hard and fast rule, since dropping some things causes

an adverse reaction and you know you need it, but I think there may

be some value in changing up the protocol.

I had the same thing happen this week. My 6yr old son had a break from

supplements while sick, and had better focus and now I wonder about

starting them all again? It is very frustrating. How do I start all

over again to figure out what is actually helping.

How were you able to isolate which one(s) not needed? Was there a

negative reaction?

It is so weird that you said that. I'm going through the same thing

right now with my son. He has been doing Biomedical for 3 years

now. He was doing FANTASTIC. Great gains, but in the spring he

started having huge focus and attention issues. More than normal.

Weird viruses and illness here and there since then and the doc and I

couldn't get him on track. I got so fed up about 3 weeks ago and

stopped everything. It is the first time in 3 years I haven't been

forcing tons of suppliments on him. In the last week or so he has

been doing great at school and home. I don't get it.

I do think that a break is sometimes needed.

Even him MB12 which was so wonderful for him doesn't seem to be

working the way it used to. I think it is making him more unfocused

as well. The day after I give it to him he usually has a bad day.

Hyper etc. He was not like that the last 3 years though.

I am giving him CLO because of skin issues. He does tollerate that

well.

I was going to add back all the things slowly, one at a time and now

I'm thinking of just giving him more of a break and see how things

go.

I'm wondering who else has had this happen and what were longer term

results from pulling the suppliments from their diet.

He is gf/cf/sf/corn f. I won't mess with his diet because I know he

has major issues with those things.

I'm so glad to hear your son is doing well. We have been doing bio-

med for 3 years with very little results through doctors. I have

recently started following Dana's protocol and have seen some mild

improvements. It was a shock to see such focus earlier this week

after stopping everything. It's good to hear others experiences and

know we are experiencing the same thing. That is why I belong to

this community :) He lost focus and initiative by the third day of

being off supplements so we are back on again.

God Bless!

I just became a member of this group today. What is Dana's protocol?

Thanks

Well, I gave my son a MB12 shot yesterday after having him off

everything for a full 1 1/2 weeks. He is a basket case today. Stimmy,

loud, hyper, unfocused, touching everything.

He did so well on it for the last year and a half. What could be

going wrong? Could it be that he doesn't need it?

His last testing showed his folic acid at good levels (even a bit

high) so he has not had any in any of his other suppliments.

Without the B12 I see a slip in his language. He will mumble his

words and it makes it harder for me to understand what he is saying.

Especially bad for school. He is mainstreamed K this year.

Any thoughts anyone?

Thanks,

B12 shots also caused great problems for my d when we first tried

them. She did not tolerate folic acid or folinic acid so she was not

being supp w any folic at the time. A couple years later I tried

again. This time she was on 5 methyl folate as well and was able to

tolerate the B12 injections. You may want to try a folic supp with

those B12 shots.

I'm new to this group but I want to add to this topic that I have

clearly seen a trend in my 9yo throughout his life that when he is sick

with something like a mild cold or virus, he is more focuesed and makes

gains. It seems like the virus gives his immune system better things

to do.

What does your child eat? I am trying to go SF/corn free, he is

already GF/CF - So I don't know what to feed him if we take the others

away. Could you give me some ideas? Thanks so much, Wanda

At my house, B12 required folic acid and carnitine for proper

absorption, and it did tend to increase yeast. Those symptoms sound

mostly like yeast, so try increasing the yeast protocol, see if that

helps.

He may not need as high of a dose. I have had to reduce my son's dose

recently.

Start one at a time, at 1/2 the dose you were giving before.
