Guest guest
Hi, My son is 7, but we found that Gillhams Calm Magnesium works super well in a couple of hours. If really impacted we have used Pedialax glycerin suppositories (they are liquid) and they work in about 10-30 seconds. If still in a diaper I would work quickly with the suppository. The blood may be from straining??? There's always prune juice! Hope this helps, Susi

Guest guest
Our little guy, also 3, had a colon blockage diagnosed through a colonoscopy. Constipation is so tough on them. We had good luck with epsom salt baths. Use 5 full cups of epsom salts so the water is super " sandy " . The theory is that the water is absorbed through the skin and softens the impacted stool. Constipation occurs when there is not enough fluid in the intestine/bowel. We usually got a bowel movement within a few hours of a good LONG bath like this. Lots of fluids. Very high dose vitamin C with also loosen bowels. We used 5,000 mg (and he weighed about 32 pounds at the time). Hope he's feeling better soon. Guest guest
Magnesium citrate works wonderfully for both of my kids. We use it daily to keep everything moving, as they both tend towards constipation without. Too much will cause diarrhea. The dose must be tailored to the individual. Our daughter gets very constipated from yeast overgrowth. Whenever we effectively eliminate yeast, her stools get looser and her need for magnesium reduces, so we can pull back on the dose. Guest guest
Few things that works very well for us:enema, suppositories give really fast result, also Aloe Vera Jucie and Cascara Sagrada from Nutritional Resources. Little bit of blood is not a problem, it may be related to constipation, and hard stool, happened here, and goes away when things more loose Good luck Natalia From: Sheri <ksmiller@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Help...what to do for constipation?? Guest guest
, there is a file in the files section of the AM homepage that talks about constipation in some detail. You might find that helpful. Anita > > 30lb 3yr old boy is really constipated. I don't like using Miralax for kids. Guest guest
Hi! We use OxyPowder here for our 4 1/2yr old son...he has pooping issues which are related to the yeast but when it's not coming out, you gotta do something to get it out! Essentially, it is magnesium...they need to drink loads of water aswell. I keep a large cup with a lid and straw easy access all day and he usually goes through atleast 2 of these a day which now really helps! Hope that helps and good luck! > > > > 30lb 3yr old boy is really constipated. I don't like using Miralax for kids. Guest guest
Some things that help around here: Aloe Glyconutrients Celtic Sea Salt potato starch -- I sometimes make myself potato soup with sea salt and organic butter to get things moving. There's a couple or recipes here: http://healthgazelle.org/recipes.shtml You could also try buying a box mix for German Potato Balls. That's starchy. (My son wants me to learn to make them from scratch. My mom used to do this, so I know it's a lot of work. But with eating better and getting healthier, my kids have become food snobs and the box mix is no longer good enough. <grin.) gelatin -- not the stuff with dyes and sugar. I just buy the plain gelatin packs and make a warm drink with it and flavor it with fruit juice. Foods high in healthy oils, like organic butter, organic coconut oil, organic olive oil. I have recently found that cooking with the lard/drippings from bacon works well too. You could consider the sugar cookie recipe on my website. It's high in butter content (again: organic butter) and often gets things going for me. Good luck with this. Guest guest
Has anyone used the " Assist Dairy and Protein " enzyme supplements advertised on the Body Ecology link below? They have DPP-IV enzymes and betaine and pepsin. Did you find it helpful? Considering it for my 8yo son. Deana K. >
Guest guest
For my kiddos with this issue...it was large doses of C, magnesium and for the worst of the bunch....fairly high doses of glucommman...it is a fiber that has helped alot...vitacost has it in pill form....this combo helped my kiddo with problems so bad that even oxypowder was requiring huge huge doses. Guest guest
, These are all really good ideas. But a couple of the most important ones for anyone with a mercury burden seem to have been left out. My personal experience is that both parasites and food allergies were major problems during my detoxification. I took a 250 food allergy ELISA test from Meridian Labs and it came back black and blue. I was powerfully allergic to half the things on earth. Avoiding these things had a profound impact on my life. Most of the allergies were delayed reaction allergies. The kind you don't notice which result in inflamatory protiens in the blood. Eventually a diet of rotating unprocessed natural foods so that my body would not develop sensitivities was the only thing that worked. That and digestive enzymes to break down food protien so that they wouldn't become antigens. Bromelain and pancreatic enzymes work very well. I had to cleanse for parasites at least once a month. I used a shotgun approach using several natural remedies at once. Also diatomaceous earth in food and drink. This kept them at bay very well. The specific remedies were, Wormwoood, wormseed, Cocoa powder, ground red pepper, 10 rangroon creeper seeds, ginger, garlic and several others. Also pumpkin seeds with onions. These produced a massive die off when first used, producing lots of gas and runny stool. If performed regularly, though, there was little reaction. PARASITES If there is blood in the stool there may be parasites. People with mercury burdens have depressed immune systems. As a result they collect parasites. The average american carries 4 pounds of them. One would expect people with toxic issues to carry even more. Parasites can cause constipation. Testing is usually futile. I usually had to stop my detox periodically and do a parasitic cleanse. That helped. But One very gentle way to do that is with diatomaceous earth, which must be taken for at least a couple of weeks. That didn't interfere with my detox. WHEAT AND ALLERGIES Constipation and bleeding can be caused by food allergies. Food allergies and mercury toxicity are linked. Autism and food allergies even more strongly linked. Wheat is the most common and the most ignored. It often has no definite symptoms. And it can result in bleeding and in constipation. Only an ELISA test can say for certain whether someone has a wheat allergy. Which is the same as " celiac disease " . Wheat allergies are the most chronically damaging allergy because wheat antibodies attack the body itself. Including nerve lining. > > 30lb 3yr old boy is really constipated.
