Guest guest
Hi, We use Gillhams Calm (magnesium) religiously. Also, it may not be a problem of the food not going through him, but his muscles have atrophied and cannot normally push through the intestine. Our DAN! showed us this and it was the case for my son. When he says it hurts, he asks for Pedialax suppositories(glycerin) that are from Target. They work in about 10-15 seconds, and he is in such a better mood after!!!!He accepted it readily after not being able to go for 6 days....poor kids! Hope this helps, Susi P.S. I like the verse, I am trying to remember that on the bad days.... > > I am looking for things I can do beside prune juice. He goes every 3-4 days. He eats all day but doesnt pass it through. He is just backed up. > > > " I can do everything through him who gives me strength. " Philippians 4:13 > > > > >

Guest guest
Hi What brand/type of magnesium do you give your son? My son just turned 5 and is about 45 pounds...and I would love to regulate him too. Thanks. Carla From: athomenetjobs@... He is just backed up. I have ideas here http://www.danasview.net/constip.htm The most common things that help, are magnesium, vitamin C, and yeast control. Guest guest
Currently I'm giving my son Source Naturals Magnesium chelate tablets twice a day. It has 47mg calcium and 100mg magnesium per tablet. Lately if I don't give it to him twice a day he has problems, but I think it's also due to him holding it in during school - not good! Also, try to get more fiber in him. Beans & peas are a great source, there's a recipe on the net for black bean brownies which is good but if you're using canned beans make sure it doesn't have onions in it! If your child doesn't like beans puree them and add them to sauces, muffins etc. they'll never know ~ > > > > I am looking for things I can do beside prune juice. He goes every 3-4 days. Guest guest
We used glycerin suppositories to get my son cleaned out. First couple of uses were a little traumatic, but after that when he was really backed up he would ask for one, knowing it would hurt less. We tried mineral oil, didn't do a thing. We cut back on dairy, although now you can get yogurt with fiber in it, so we use that. No bananas, either, they are binding. Helpful foods included pears, apples with the skin, dried apricots, also check products marked " low carb " they are often loaded with fiber. Make sure he gets a lot of exercise, too; some fresh fruit, lots of fluids and a long walk at the zoo usually worked like a charm to get things moving if he skipped a day. Ultimately, we went to Miralax which worked like a charm to get him cleaned out and regular. I think we used it for about 6 months to get him regular and then stopped. That cleared up the constipation and helped us while we got him potty trained for BMs, too. I'm not sure what age your son is, but if he is out of diapers, 10-20 minutes after a meal is a good time for potty sit. We bought a Game Boy which he was only allowed to use on the potty, which was marvelously distracting and helped him to relax and go. He's 7 now, and is still on a schedule where he goes right after dinner every night. Hope this helps. > > I am looking for things I can do beside prune juice. He goes every 3-4 days. Guest guest
Try JuicePlus veggie....or if you don¹t want to deal with the salespeople (you can buy directly from the website but the salespeople will bother you), you can buy the same type of thing at Whole Foods or like store where they have the green veggies freeze-dried in a capsule. Put 1/2 capsule into your child¹s juice or in applesauce if he/she will take that....OTHERWISE give sprinkles during the day in various foods if they don¹t accept it because of the taste. The fiber from those things really helped my kid eliminate and got him back on track. Hope this helps. Norma

Guest guest
Oxypowder is really good stuff, it works well and is gentle. Yes you can open the capsules and mix with a little water and juice. You can buy from Mandi's online store - Mandimart Regards > > > > > > Hi > > > What brand/type of magnesium do you give your son? Guest guest
You may need to help clean out that retained stool, prior to helping with regularity. Epsom salt baths help flush things out by drawing water into the colon. Avocado works like magic for my son when he is constipated. Others find OxyPowder helps break up a blockage. Once you have cleared out the old stool, you can help with regularity by providing the essential enzymes. My son will begin having bowel issues if I miss one snack. Make sure you have the right enzyme for the right type of food. It makes all the difference in the world. Guest guest
US: http://www.oxypowder.com/ Canada: http://www.oxyhealthcanada.com/ (different formula than US version, as Germanium-132 is not legal in Canada) FYI, OxyPowder is designed for adults, so I inquired about dosing information for children. Here is the response from OxyPowder: " As always when dealing with Children we always recommend you speaking to their Health Care Professional when adding new supplementation to their regimen. If you feel that Oxy-Powder would be helpful for your child we would follow the guidelines as stated. We would recommend that they are at a minimum weight of 50lbs+. For a Cleansing Dosage start with ½ or 1 Capsule emptied into an 8oz. glass of water and taken on an empty stomach. Then wait to see how their body reacts to the low dosage. You may find it beneficial to start on a Friday night so that you can monitor their progress. When increasing his/her dosage, please increase slowly by ½ or 1 capsule, until you find a dosage that allows the relief they are looking for. Do not allow children to do a 7 day Cleansing Process. You can however allow them to take the maintenance dose every other day until you are familiar with their reaction to Oxy-Powder. Please note that the Oxy-Powder will give children a very liquid, watery and gaseous stool. This is not diarrhea but the fecal compaction oxidizing into a liquid and gaseous form.
