Why does she feel it is seizures vrs tourettes? What is happening. I

have great experience with both... My son has suffered years from all

types of seizures. My daughter has tourettes...

A seizure comes and then goes away .... frequently leaving the child

sleepy afterwards, unless it is a small one like a staring spell ...

but during a seizure it is impossible to redirect a child's behavior.

The child becomes non-responsive.

A tic (tourettes) is a movement/a sound/shake etc that is repeated over

and over again... and although you can get the child to quit it for a

time ... it always happens again. This tics wax and wane in that

sometimes they are intense and at other times they seam minimal or

almost gone. Times when they are at the worse are during TV watching

times or while reading etc.... Tics do not cause loss of consciousness

and they do not cause sleepiness afterwards (although as in my

daughters case they definately caused headaches.)

Feel free to give her my e-mail. I am happy to direct her toward a

great deal of info.

Here is a group that may be able to help.

epilepsy treatment/

My son had complex seizures(started after his first MMR). Now 5yrs

later he hasnt had any for almost a year(possibly a couple of petites).

We are confident his seizure recovery is due to intestinal improvement

and viral healing! Magnesium has been a big help!! Jennie<><

thank you. its crazy how so many of our kids have different issues yet all go

back to healing the gut. Thanks again. They meet with a specialist this

morning. I told her no matter what they determine, to keep her chin up because

there are treatments out there for a lot of things that MD's won't discuss.

Hi Tami,

Pls. tell your friend that if the MD decides it is Tourettes not to

start any medication without lots of research and soul searching.

There are a lot of terrifyingly nasty drugs(things like Haldol and

risperdal) that they give freely for TS. Lots of us have had good

results with diet, lifestyle changes, and supplements. There are also

alot of heartbreaking stories about really messed up kids because of

powerful medications.
