Guest guest
Help! Out of the blue this week my son suddenly stated excessively blinking and nodding with jerky movements in a way that is very troubling. When I picked him up from school Thurs it was constant and very worriesome. Then that night he wet his bed for the first time in over 8 months. Then Friday, nothing--totally fine, except for one moment when he did a quick succession of rapid blink and nods and it was when he was stressed (he realized we had reached the dentist's office and he was getting an extraction) Last night wet bed again! Today a little more blinking and nodding but nothing extraordinary like Thurs. Overall, he's also been very disregulated in his emotions lately. Melting down over simple transitions that normally are no longer an issue for him. A little hyper/intense overall too which is usually not a problem for him. Of note, Weds night I gave him an extra 1000 i.u of Vit D by accident. Overall I've been giving a lot of Vit D this winter season (4,000 iu/day), which is more than his DAN recommends for him. Perhaps he does not tolerate this well. He has issues with oxalates, phenols and also is very yeasty (we are working on it!) My first thought was stress -- there has been a particular lot of that for him lately and he's VERY sensitive to stress/intense emotions. Otherwise, he is totally fine. Cognitively really strong and no other red flags... But I cannot completley rule out seizures either as there have been suspected bouts of absence seizures in the past which in one case was accompanied by severe regression! (But that was over 2 years ago before we started any biomed interventions) I really would appreciate any insight/experiences any of you may have here! It would help so much to have some ideas about this so I can stay calm. Anyone ever experience this kind of blinking and/or nodding? Oh, yes, he also had a diet infraction about 8 days ago, dad put baking powder with cornstarch (he's allergic to corn) instead of baking soda in his bath, but we feel we have not seen much reaction (no sleepless nights, no skin reaction, behavior maybe w/ the melts, but not sure that could be related...) Thanks in advance for any thoughts with this. Am trying not to worry too much and not sure if I should rush him to a neuro (for us that's never yeilded much in the way of results anyway, it's just been stressful and expensive!)
