Guest guest
>>> I just started reading Enzymes and Autism and am really excited. He is a major gut kid and I have been trying to clean up his gut for two years now. I have experimented with enzymes in the past and have been using TriEnza for about three months now. My son takes one cap with every meal and most snacks. Try giving two or three with larger meals. Most of the all-n-one products need more capsules per meal. If you give more per meal for a week or two and do not see any difference, go back to one per meal. >>We are currently treating yeast, staph and clostridia. I really want to be more aggressive with the enzymes to see if his gut will heal faster. I am thinking of possibly doing enzymes in between meals. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for me? Look at a strong protease for this. Or something that is high in proteases. I think of the proteases as big workhorses in healing in general. Those are also the enzymes that cause more of the adjustment effects. ViraStop is a great strong protease product because of the range of protease it contains. It isn't just for viral issues...it just happens to work very well on viruses where other protease products do not. If you buy a strong protease for foods anyway, such as GlutenEase, Peptidase Complete or Peptizyde, you can start giving some of that between meals. The therapeutic dose minimum range is around 9-12 enzymes a day between meals, just for general information in case you were thinking 6 was 'high.' >>>Does anyone recommend different enzymes or brands of enzymes? Can we mix brands of enzymes to get better results? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Fortunately, digestive enzymes are mix-n-match. You do not have to stick to just one brand if another product line has something that fits your situation better. If you have been using TriEnza for a few months, try increasing the dose first. Then if you are interested in trying another brand, get 1 bottle of that other product and use it. Then go with whichever gives you the best results. One bottle should be enough to let you know how it is working for you. For broad-spectrum products in autism, probably one of the very best out these days is the Vital-Zyme Complete by Klaire http://www.klaire.com/enzymes_cat.htm Maximum Spectrum Complete by Kirkman is also good. http://www.kirkmanlabs.com/products/enzymes/MaxSpecZym.html These have the DPP IV protease blend, no fruity enzymes, and a good profile. The Maximum has the Isogest stuff to help with carbs while the Klaire product features lyzozyme in it which is a very nice antimicrobial and a very nice enzyme to have for gut problems. Klaire's product also contains serratia peptidase which is good at cleaning out gunk to promote healing. Serratia peptidase has gained lots of attention as a standalone enzyme product in general. Klaire's enzyme product comes as a chewable as well (the chewable does not have the lyzozyme, but does contain the serratia peptidase). Digest Gold from Enzymedica is another broad-spectrum product that features no fruity enzymes. It also has no fillers of any kind, if that is an issue for your situation. At the moment, it contains some DPP IV protease blend activity but not as high as the other two mentioned. Watch the price value on this one because it lists 1 capsule per serving whereas the other products list 2 capsules. A fourth product is Thropp Nutrition Elite-Zyme Ultra. It has good potency and a price hard to beat. However, it does not have the DPP IV focus if that is an issue, and it does contain the fruit-derived enzyme bromelain to help with inflammation. It is better suited for non-spectrum people, or in rotation with a different broad-spectrum if price is an issue. Again, when trying a product, one bottle is enough to let you know how it is working in comparison to a product in the same category. You can also get a couple different brands and rotate them, and see how that goes. .
