My daughter can't take the GABA either and I'm not sure why.

Anyone had bad outcome with GABA?

Hi,

I gave my son GABA yesterday for the secong time in a month, with the same

outcome happening twice now- anger, yelling, extreme emotions, and general

tantrums with the high pitched scream. It is straight GABA, nothing added.

I use it on my daughter and it works wonderfully!

Has anyone ever encountered this?Does it require other support in place first?

We are going to try TMG next instead.

Thanks,

Susi

yes. Made my son an emotional wreck. Crying, screaming,

everything-is-wrong-with-the-world mess. Homeopathic practitioner said to keep

going with it, that the reaction was to be expected and he would come out the

other side better. But we eventually stopped it. Just too painful.

We used GABA when I saw anxiety in our son last year. We still use it

occasionally, BUT we have to ease into it because then we will have

tantrums before we see some improvement. So we open up the capsule and just

sprinkle a bit in his juice throughout the day. I would recommend you try

it on yourself first to see how it makes you feel then you will understand

what your child might be feeling.

I also started my son with GABA (first day 125mg) and he had the worst reaction

to it. In theory,

Dr. Amy Yasko has the answer for that. I don't use her supplements b ecause they

are very expensive but her book " the puzzle of autism " is definetly worth

reading. A problem with GABA may be a sign of detox from build up of toxic

glutamate which is bad for our kids. She says that the first step is to balance

the GABA - Glutamate levels. So, you may see some " detox " or bad reaction and

should start slowly.

we used a low dose only (maximum up to 100mgs).I know there is a 500 mg dose and

I took it myself to see what it would feel like and I had some funky feeling in

my limbs . I usually give my son 50mgs.Yaskos tapes say ocd and speech can be

helped by GABA so maybe there is a viral connection.
