Guest guest
Hi there, I read this article on another site. This tells me about 10 healthy adults. I know that my children don't react the same way most people do to things or they wouldn't be where they are today. I'd like to see the study on autistic children with known gut issues. Sorry to be critical. Casandra From: aco_826@... Date: Wed, 10 Jun 2009 13:25:14 +0000 Subject: Gluten free diet linked to leaky gut Very interesting article... Guest guest
Hi there, I worry that some people will read this that are on the fence trying to decide if they should try the " diet " and figure its no good and opt out. I know that when the diet was first suggested to me I didn't like the idea. This may be the excuse that some look for. The diet is good and does a lot for many of our children regardless of what this sudy is trying to suggest. Casandra From: ritzywright@... Guest guest
I hate to be a party-pooper, but this article is ridiculous. Here is the comment that I left: The experience of healthy subjects may have no bearing on people who go on the GF diet after developing symptoms. Also without knowing what the subjects DID eat it is meaningless to know that their gut flora became more imbalanced. Many people eat more refined starches on a GF diet and this alone can cause gut flora to become imbalanced, but this is not an intrinsic problem with a GF diet. My family follows the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (the original celiac diet), which is GF but also cuts out the starches that feed the bad gut flora. Our gut flora has improved significantly on this diet and our leaky gut is healing. To find out more, read Breaking the Vicious Cycle by Elaine Gottschall and Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Dr Natasha McBride. These books will explain what is going on and what to do about it. The GAPS diet takes into account all of the info given here about enzymes, probiotics, malabsorption, and EFAs. -Sierra http://grainfreefoodie.blogspot.com/ > > Very interesting article...
