Guest guest
Can you please tell me what enzyme would be the best to address possible yeast issues? My son has trouble falling asleep, then will also wake during the night and have trouble going back to sleep. He has AS & is on mostly carb/processed diet. Want to try enzymes first. Thanks!! Guest guest
Hello, Cellulase is the enzymes used to address yeast issues. When trying to find a product to help with yeast issues, you want it to be high in cellulase and have protease in it as well. Cellusase breaks down the outer layer of the candida wall. After the outer wall in digested, the cell releases toxins. If the product has Protease in it, the protease will destroy those toxins. Enzymedica's Candidase has high amounts of Protease and Cellulase. Depending on how severe the yeast issues are, you can also give Virastop. A probiotic has been shown to have great benefits for individuals with Candida. On page 64 of the book " Enzymes: What the Experts Know " by Tom Bohager it explains the process nicely. It says " In individuals with Candida albicans overgrowth there is often a large amount of undigested fiber in the large intestine. It is believed that the mucus the body naturally produces due to the difficulty of digesting this fiber may protect the Candida from our body's natural overgrowth prevention mechanisms. Since cellulase breaks down fiber, it can resolve this problem by removing both the fiber and the mucous so our body is able to achieve a state of balance. Another aspect of why cellulase can help therapeutically with Candida is how it can specifically remove the overgrowth. The Candida cell contains some fungal cellulose or chitin. Chitin is a polysaccharide or carbohydrate, which is structurally very similar to cellulose. For the same reasons cellulase helps remove undigested fiber in the colon, it has been used in breaking down this " cellulose-like " chitin. It is important to subsidize cellulase with a probiotic (a friendly bacteria such as L. acidophilus) when trying to correct this problem.
