Hi,

I have been reading on this group about treating ADHD, oxalate and other

problems by giving various B vitamins, and have seen various recommendations

including specific ones and a B complex-format. I think oxalates are one of the

problems our daughter is dealing with right now, but she is already taking a

multivitamin that gives 100% or more of the RDA of all of the usual ones except

Biotin (33%) and Niacin (75%).  It's got 250% of B6 and 167% of B12, as far as

specific ones I've seen mentioned. She is on the GFCF diet so not getting the

" enriched " nutrients added to wheat flour products.

By the way, she's 11 years old, about 100 pounds.

While I know the B Vitamins are not retained by the body like some others are, I

think I heard somewhere that too much Folic Acid could be harmful, plus if the

body has to dump the other excesses, it's more work for what, in our kids'

systems, is often an already overtaxed toxin-cleaning system, so I'm hesitant to

give too much. At the same time, I've read that the RDA is often grossly

insufficient for our kids, due to their various metabolic issues.

There's also the question if we do add B vitamins to what she's already

getting, of supplementing magnesium to keep them from causing hyper or similar

problems. She's already getting 500-750 mg per day of magnesium in her calcium

supplement. Would I need to add more?

Our pediatrician is unfamiliar with oxalate issues and says in general regarding

vitamins we should only go past RDA's on D. Due to insurance situation we're

pretty much stuck with him for now, so I need to do this without " professional "

guidance. What can people tell me about their experiences in this area?

Thanks.
