As for your thoughts on my criticism of the Defib-sandwich commercial...

> I find it somewhat degrading but no more than the

> I LOVE that dog!

Remember where I am? (NW) Tampa... and all the Cubans I know love the dog

and commercial too.

Most of my neighbors are also proud that their native tongue is represented

in mainstream TV spots. We often only hear the protests of the activists.

> ..I think that the obnoxious ad

> actually might cause a little interest in defibs...

Bravo for anything that does that... however, I still find it revolting,

if not insulting. But... as I said in my treatise... my feeling may be a

bit of over reacting... just my personal (activism) feelings.

Has anyone thought to try propranolol ( Inderal) on your dad? It seems to be

the all purpose anti-arrhythmic. I was having trouble like your dad is having

until they hit me with a massive dose of propranolol and supressive pacing.

(They paced me so fast that the arrhythmia couldn't come in.) Propranolol is

much less specialized than other beta blockers. It is a class III beta-

blocker so it blocks all the adrenaline receptors in your body, not just the

ones in your heart. I don't know your dad's case, but I've seen the

cardiologists use it to attack a lot of really tough rhythms, so it might be

worth a mention.

The first time I saw that commercial, my thoughts were " I hope my dad never

sees this. " It makes me uncomfortable to watch it--and hopefully they don't

show it on ESPN so my dad won't have to see it. I've seen enough " shocks "

to last me and everyone else a life time!!

On another note, the rep from Medtronic came up from Albuquerque last

week & reset my dad's ICD--the other one & this new one were set to try to

pace him out of the v-tach & if it didn't work it hit with 30 jueles. Now,

since that appears to NOT work they have changed it to deliver 5 then 10 and

if necessary 30. And, of course, being the overachiever that he is he has

already tried it out several times. The first night he got shocks 15

minutes apart which I presume were both at 5. Do you know if that is a

correct assumption? Also, the cardiologist said for him to take an ativan

when he felt the " cold rush " . Does anyone do anything similar?

Also, my dad is back up to 600 mg of cordarone AND Mexilitine 150 4X a

day. He is having to go in for blood test every week--for potassium,

magnesium, & something else to do with the toxicity thing. Has anyone ever

been on that dosage of cordarone for an extended period of time & if so--how

long before toxicity? Thanks for your help!!!

Poppy -- Sounds like your Dad is having a really rough time of it.

I've been zapped before but not nearly that many times, and I'm only on

200 mg. a day of Cordarone which seems to be holding me (no toxicity so

far & no zaps). I've been on it for 9 months I just wanted you to know

that you and your Dad are in my thoughts--hope things " mellow out " soon.

What in the world is that?? I went to the wesite

and I still don't understand. It looks like a tens

unit. What is it supposed to do? I am leary. It looks

like a middle ages torcher device. lol
My opinoin (

for what it's worth) is be very careful about NEW

Devices... There are alot of con-artisits out there to pray

of the sick and the frightened. The only thing that

it might take away is your money and give you a

false sense of health. As the Hep C eats away at your

body.
Just a little caution from me. If anyone can give me

any documented information about this I would be

intrested.
God bless everyone.
I looked at their website also. I hate to say it,

but thoughts of scam and con artist come to my mind.

I really don't believe an electrical field of a

specific frequency can remove viruses from our bodies. If

this were so, why wouldn't we already be using these

devices to get rid of the flu and the common cold? My

advice is to save your money and stick to scientific

treatments that at least have gone through legitimate

clinical trials. While I am open to testing any potential

cures, this just does not ring true.

Well, what " would " the pharmaceutical companies

do if what costs $10 to make actually does zap viri?

The US post office is using it to zap

anthrax.

Considering that the medicines available now cure no more

Hi Cody, In response to your query if anyone has

used a zapper--I did before I knew I had HCV. It got

rid of my migraines. I cannot say it got rid of my

HCV because I still have it. Anytime my migraines

rear their ugly head, it reminds me that I haven't

used it in awhile. I (my husband) built our own zapper

for just a few dollars. It isn't as fancy as the

website cited for thet $83 jobber-but it still works the

same. You can find the instructions in the book " The

Cure For All Diseases. " Let me know if you have any

questions. I hope I'll be able to answer them.
Annette

Dear Katharina,

In my opinion the Zapper is a great device that does the job and if you don't believe me just ask my wife.

Sincerely,

Dear ,

I don't think the question was whether the zapper is a good device.

Rather, it is a technical question, what might have caused the woman

Katharina mentioned to develop a hematoma when she used it? We do

need to keep open on these issues as they will come up repeatedly.

Dear ,

I have to answer you to somehow explain what I was posting. It must have arrived with you like attacking? Or you must have felt hurt somehow by the question. I did by no means intend to doubt or question your or the zapper method. What I try to learn is: what are the conditions to be followed while using it so there is no hematoma? All I want to do is help my friend to avoid in future such an outcome. I simply cannot help her avoiding undesired consequences without someone else giving me the odds I have to tell her. As she is very dear to my heart, I was so concerned about what had happened to her and about her anxiety she experienced.

As I said, I am totally inexperienced with the zapper. When she confronted me with what had happened to her, I immediately said:" I have no cue how to handle this, but I know people who will be able to answer the question. I will present the problem to them and hear what they are telling us." So please, may I ask you again for your opinion, or maybe your wife might tell us what she is considering to be the rules to follow?

Thank you in advance,

friendly regards,

Katharina

P.S. Please, know that I am not a native English speaking person. I have been struggling for a long time, to understand and to make myself understood.

Someday I might reach the top of the hill......so God give.
