Or should I rather wait till we finish the antibiotics and then load up on the probiotics? Give the probiotics at least 2 hours apart from the antibiotics. You can switch to something like GSE/OoO during the antibiotics, and give the probiotics after the antibiotics are finished, if you want. Guest guest
If we don't give enough probiotics while the kids are on antibiotics they stomach aches -- which if bad enough for either of them to mention I assume are really bad. I keep them on Aloe gel or capsules as well. > > Our son has just tested positive for H Pylori, after years of reflux which we think increased his seizures. > > From what I've seen searching the archives, it looks as though it's worth doing the 2 antibiotics, much as I hate them, to get rid of the infection. Probiotics have always helped, but I'm not sure whether I should/can keep on with them at the same time as the antibiotics? > > It seems sensible to dose midday, as far away as possible from his am and pm antibiotics? Guest guest
Hello, Our son had H pylori and we tried Mastica, etc. but we did not get results. We had to do the antibiotics. We believe he had undiagnosed h pylori for a long time. We did the antibiotics and we saw improvement in the reflux. A couple of weeks after the antibiotics he got diarrhea for 12 days, it was found to be clostridium difficile and had to do another 10 days of antibiotics for that. Looking back we wish we had done probiotics couple of times a day every day during the antibiotics. The clostridium difficile was a consequence of the use of antiobiotcs for H pylori and S. boulardii helps with that. Other probiotics we are giving is culturelle, and some times rotate with others. VSL# 3 is too strong we don't think he tolerate but for many people works very well. H pylori is a very bad bug. Many times it does not go away with one course of antibiotics. Looking back again we should have been looking and testing and fighting it because of our son's reflux. Our son has also reflux because of food allergies. He does not tolerate fructose. Apples for example, appple juice, pear juice, pear puree, all create reflux. Fructose intolerant is a metabolic problem with the fructose in fruits and vegetables. It took forever for us to figure the fructose problem. I did ask his GI if there was a relationship between reflux and seizures. He looked puzzled with the question. Did you find any literature on that? > > Our son has just tested positive for H Pylori, after years of reflux which we think increased his seizures. > > From what I've seen searching the archives, it looks as though it's worth doing the 2 antibiotics, much as I hate them, to get rid of the infection.
