Hello,

I am writing from Ireland. I am sorry for the very long email. I am

giving a summary of my whole medical story and hope for some advice.

You may think I should go to a naturopath. They aren't many available

in Ireland and certainly enzyme therapy isn't developed.... If

anybody knows of somebody who could help in Ireland, please let me know.

I am relatively new to enzyme which I started about 2 months ago. I

take zyme Prime and Peptizide before each meal. I have started taken

1 NoFenol with OLE and 1 peptizide in the last week. I've been on

Colloidal Silver spray for 10 days and thinking of stopping. I also

started GSE in the last 3 days...

Quick history:

Childhood in France: Hated any dairy as a child, had loads of ear

infections, eczema and near constant horrible painful huge mouth

ulcers. Was never diagnosed with autism syndrome (I have a cousin who

is autistic and has never talked. She's been in an institution all

her life - 28 years old now) but I was quite a loner and had no

friends. I always felt different. Always needed to move and jump and

couldn't sit still. (Actually I still find it hard, I need my sport

everyday and I still feel quite different). At puberty I started to

have acne and I still have some. I started to develop some type of

asthma when I'd go running or swimming. That eventually got sorted

out by a fantastic osteopath/Physio guy. Around the same time I

started to like dairy and really eating loads of it. I even went

vegetarian for a while eating loads of cheese and yoghurt, etc.

Then I moved to Ireland in 1998 , to a damp climate and within a year

or 2 I developed allergies to dust-mites and pollens. (I am also

extremely allergic to bee sting.) I started to get a postnasal drip

(yellow heavy stuff) every morning at waking. . Away from home,

Started to eat all the forbidden stuff: packs of biscuits, white

toasts with melted cheese, crisps. At the time, I used to swim 6 days/

week and the pool water really made matters worse. So I went to an

allergy specialist who put me on steroids and antihistamine meds. I

also started desensitization to dust-mites in 2002-03...

Until I went to India for 3 months in Nov 2006. I decided I wouldn't

bring any of my meds and I'd give up on the desensitization. Over in

India my allergies weren't a problem at all. But maybe there was no

allergen? However I started to loose my hair badly. I use to have

loads of very thin hair and I must have lost more than half. My acne

went mad in India as well. Digestion wasn't the best. I remember

eating Ghee rice and waking up in the middle of the night feeling

like I was going to explode.

As a child I loved food, every food except dairy (even-though my mum

tried to force it into me but it usually wouldn't work), I don't

remember any digestion problem. However my parents were convinced I

was too fat and had me on a watch diet (only 1 helping). We weren't

allowed sweet and mum cooked everything with fresh vegs and fruits

from the garden, chicken raised at home and meat from local farms or

fish. She didn't fry because my dad has a very sensitive stomach and

had an ulcer a few times. So I suppose it was a very good diet.

I have been Cow-Dairy free since 2001 and all dairy- free since 2005.

When I cut all dairy I saw quite a big improvement for my general

energy level which had dropped very low. I replaced yoghurt with a

soy alternative, which I have eliminated in June 2008. It caused

havoc in my hormonal balance when I stopped. I became really bloated,

put on about a stone. But I was determined no to take soy anymore.

I'm also gluten free for most of a year. I was taking lots of rice

crackers for a good while but I think I was starting not to tolerate

them anymore. Now I make my own sourdough organic spelt bread which

is delicious and doesn't seem to be causing problems... yet? . .

Apart from this, since 2007, I've been eating everything locally

(near or Organic) farmed produced (vegs and meat) and all grains and

oils and fruits i eat are organic.

Between about 2001 and early 2008 I started to have a recurring cold

every 2 months and would catch the flu in winter. I was in Tennessee

in April 08 and caught a really bad sinus infection but didn't take

any antibiotics. It eventually went away. Between April and July

though my energy levels were very very low until my last cold in July

08.

Under pressure at work I decided I'd tackle that one. I started

garlic capsules, multivitamin, Lepicol (Psyllium Husk with pre and

pro-biotics) . . It was the first time something finally seem to

work. Since, I also took Quercetin complex with bromelain from

Wakunaga for about 3 months . .

I finally discovered De Felice book and started the Houston

enzymes. Things are much better. Everybody else is catching a really

bad flu at the moment in Ireland and I feel fantastic.

I take a probiotic but I haven't really found the perfect one yet.

The best is Lepicol with the Psyllium Husk and the FOS-prebiotic.

It's not very convenient to take though.

The Colloidal silver seems to have help with the sinus but I'm afraid

to carry on for longer. It's already been 10 days. What do you think?

I still have the post nasal drip but the itchy nose which used to be

there as soon as I stopped antihistamine is gone (even went swimming

tonight and no sneezing or itching).

Should I keep taking the OLE and GSE? ZymePrime and Peptizyde seem to

do good for digestion. I'm still mostly dairy-free and gluten-free.

When I stopped all, I mean absolutely all sweet things for 3 months

my skin was really good and smooth. I am mostly sugar-free but I'd

have a couple of sweetish things at the weekend or when invited to

dinner. Should I try to be more strict?

Lately the skin on my legs has become really dry, a bit scaly. Could

this be a side effect of the enzymes and OLE and GSE or Col. Silver?

I also take Vegetal Silica from Flora and Kelp which have help a lot

with the hair loss (it has stopped and I think new hairs are growing

again)

I am heading to NY in March and I was thinking of stocking up with

supplements. It is very difficult to get supplements in Europe. It is

all very regulated (dosage are very small and prices are 3 or 4 times

that of US prices) or not available. If importing from the USA,

postage+tax can be very very costly. That's the reason I have only

tried Houston Enzymes, there is a company that sell them in the UK,

other products aren't available.

Any suggestion would be welcome.

Thank you for taking the time to read me.

Try taking biotin with magnesium. It was what really helped here with

yeast overgrowth, which caused most of this issue.

Intolerances and yeast overgrowth were the cause of both the acne and

the asthma here. And the underlying cause was metal toxicity, which I

addressed with ALA chelation.

Chlorine in pools tends to increase yeast.

Add biotin. Biotin deficiency tends to cause hair thinning and hair loss.

OLE and biotin here.

If supplements are hard to get in Europe, you might try doing more

with diet. I'd look into the GAPS diet if I were you (like SCD),

here's a link: http://www.gutandpsychologysyndrome.com/

Another: http://www.gapsdiet.com/

Everything that you describe working sounds like gut issues at the

root and GAPS will address that without as many supplements (plus this

is from the UK, so you won't have the problem of importing what you do

use). BTW, spelt isn't gluten-free, interesting that it isn't

bothering you.

I order from iherb.com for our famalies supplements and I believe

that they ship internationally. Also contact klaire labs, their

detox probiotic is the best out there, I don't know if they will ship

to Ireland or not though. For enzymes we like trienza but all

enzymes have a mold base and if you have a mold allergy that may

contribute to not feeling well. Good luck, Beth p.s there are a ton

of health food stores in nyc, and you should compile your list before

you come, now brand is our favorite as it is inexpensive and is

allergen free.
