Guest guest
Hi, I have wanted to try the new steel water bottles in an effort to get away from the plastic disposables, but am not sure if they would be safe for our daughter, as we were told years ago she is sensitive to nickel, which is a component of stainless steel. Her prior exposure was on her skin, but I would think she'd be just as likely to react in her digestive tract if any leached into the water. Does anyone know if this would be a problem or not? Thanks. -- Sent from my Palm Pixi
Guest guest
, Testing first showed my daughter sky high in nickel and chromium. She had a spacer bar in at age ~7y, graduated to braces and was wearing a retainer at testing. No one could tell us the source of the high elements. The orthodontist checked his supplier. Those stainless steel wires had almost 20% chromium and over 9% nickel. Her levels came down after we remove the metal mouth devices. I would not use stainless steel for any daily drinking. Cutler has said that if the stainless steel will hold a magnet, it is an alloy less likely to leach. > > Hi, > > I have wanted to try the new steel water bottles in an effort to get away from the plastic disposables, but am not sure if they would be safe for our daughter, as we were told years ago she is sensitive to nickel, which is a component of stainless steel.
