Guest guest
Hi Judith, I have used Olive Leaf Extract, in addition to other remedies, for yeast. When on doxycycline, my yeast problems were especially difficult (I only took OLE at night, well after the antibiotics, since there has been some suggestion [not documented] that OLE could interfere with the effectiveness of the antibiotics). Anyway, to get to my point, the yeast flared up badly after I had stopped taking OLE for about a week. After taking the OLE again, the yeast got manageable. However, I have found that OLE by itself isn't really enough if the diet is too heavy on yeast friendly foods though. For diet, sometimes I eat a lot of onions, and they are kind of nice sauted, or steamed with some salt. When I really want something sweet, I like powdered stevia in my yoghurt, or in my tea, although it's a sweet taste that some people don't care for. It helps with the desire for something sweet and it doesn't seem to be a problem with yeast. Hope this helps Laurie Lassesen
Guest guest
Laurie, how do you know when you have a yeast problem or when it gets worse? If it's a female thing, you don't have to go into a lot of detail. Sugar usually makes me feel worse, but I don't know if it's a yeast thing or just sugar affecting my immune system. Guest guest
Hi Mike, Judith, I'll try, but first, here is a reference that lists some common symptoms. Rather yucky stuff... http://www.health-science.com/candida_albicans.htm " Common symptoms may include some combination of: Anxiety Depression Chronic Fatigue Irritability Food Cravings for Sugars, Yeasts, Vinegar, Lactose (dairy) Hypoglycemia (Candida intercepts vital nutrients in the gut) Headaches Joint Pain Aching Stomach or Intestines Bloating Constipation Diarrhea Itching rectum Burning stool Gas and cramps Adult onset allergy Compromised or Weakened Immune System (friendly bacteria are the " front-line " defense for the human immune system Delusions, Violent and/or Suicidal Tendencies (advanced stages) " Personally, and this is something they don't mention in the list, is painful cracking at the corners of my mouth. My dentist told me it was fungal and I tried a creme for it, which worked. Otherwise, personally, sinus/ear infections which I believe are fungal in my case, signal a yeast overgrowth for me. Um....burning stool and itching rectum, gas and gut cramping are part of my personal experience... Cravings for carbs - it's like the yeast makes you want them, and it's a strong craving. Stevia helps with the yearning for something sweet, but it doesn't satisfy that yeast-generated craving. I have an assortment of anti-yeast supplements that I keep on hand and rotate, although when I'm not on antibiotics, I can keep it under control with a strict diet (sigh), but I can personally attest that this is difficult and I pay for my lapses in control. Hope this helps. Let me know if you want a list of what I keep on hand for yeast control, Laurie Lassesen
Guest guest
Hello Laurie, I would appreciate that list you offered on what you have on hand for yeast control. I would like it if you wrote me direct so I can print it easily. My Thanks,
Guest guest
, Could you cc it to the list, cuz I would very much like to have it. Additionally, I have this question , for you or for anyone. If rotating yeast treatments (as we've noted , rotation is often needed), among the yeast remedies you've used and will list have you been able to develop a sense of which one when, or is it merely rotation. Also, if you do this list (it's asking a lot and though you offered I wasn't exactly comfortable asking even though I'd love othe info) might you indication something about dosage--ranges? Thanks. And please don't wear yourself out on this. Though, since I've not been online since early early yesterday and not thru all the mail, you might have addressed this all on list already. Thanks. Guest guest
Ive been taking it consistently for a week now (started before then stopped because I left it somewhere), but was actually recommended it to clear a viral thing that has been hanging around in my body since I had glandular fever years ago, and secondly to get rid of a parasite. Hopefully it will help with candida as well, but the real test for me (as this is my main concern at the moment) is whether I stop coming down with the awful viral infections Ive been getting every 1 - 2 months. Since Ive been taking it my bowel movements have been more regular and my stools are formed differently, but I haven't noticed anything unusual come out. My overall feeling of wellbeing seems to be on the rise, but Im not consistent enough with my diet and supplements to be sure (yet) that it is the olive leaf. Ill update about it again in a few weeks! Guest guest
I have found Olive Leaf great when I need a natural antibiotic if I take it at first sign of cold or infection it clears it quickly, it's something I always keep in supply, I did used to take it consistently but at present am spending a lot of money on dental work having fillings replaced so maybe later if I need it, my candida is so so much better and helped by having fillings replaced. I might not need many supplements at all soon! Regards Jane
Guest guest
Its not even a whole week since my last post about this but I've been on olive leaf for 2 weeks now and suddenly my energy is improving! Traditionally I would go up and down, but I've felt consistently terrible for the last 4 months with not a single day in that time of feeling that I have any energy. But in the last week Ive really started to perk up, and the last few days Ive had periods of up to 5 hours at a time where I've been bouncing off the walls! I can't remember the last time I felt like that. In fact, the other night I was up until 2am because I was buzzing so much I couldn't sleep, and I wasn't even tired at work the next day. I feel stronger as well. I've even been a bit slack with my diet lately, and while I don't suffer extreme candida symptoms like some, I would expect by now to be feeling pretty awful and I don't. I don't know how effective it is on candida, but hopefully its starting to clear the viral stuff from my system. ita > > Ive been taking it consistently for a week now (started before then > stopped because I left it somewhere), but was actually recommended > it to clear a viral thing that has been hanging around in my body > since I had glandular fever years ago, and secondly to get rid of a > parasite. Guest guest
I read somewhere that candida takes mercury outof the body. I'm wondering then if candida overgrowth may be a response to mercury leakage. Using large doses of olive leaf extract, I got rid of these yeast things with long arms (someone mentioned it on this site). Then my my mental abilitiy hugely improved. I had to drop out of a law degree because I became so academically non functional. I did nursing because it was less demanding. Then I became so bad I couldn't do anything academic. I used to just wander round university without getting to class. Then I found a report of what it was. Mecury causes some sort of mutation of normal yeast. It wasnt until I used the olive leaf at six times recommended dose for around ten days, that this stuff came out. And each time it did, I felt as sick as hell two days beforehand. Guest guest
That sounds both promising and scary! (The sick as hell part). Ive been feeling a lot better since taking olive leaf but despite lack of brain fog, lately my concentration has been getting worse. I find it sooooooo difficult to do my work. In fact, I feel the olive leaf is making me hyper, its like I have ADHD! Have you Helen, or has anyone else experienced this? Guest guest
Take one third of a cup of Aloe Vera juice each day - it takes about 4 days to feel the difference. If it makes a distinct difference then it's likely you have a bit of a leaky gut causing the ADHD effect. It's commonly reported that people think there must be 'an upper' in Olive Leaf Extract. The Aloe Vera jiuice will seal any leak. ita <jzealey@...> wrote: That sounds both promising and scary! (The sick as hell part). Guest guest
Well I finally got a chance to buy some aloe juice, but it was too late... had to stop taking olive leaf extract a couple of weeks ago because I was having a severe emotional reaction to it and my lack of concentration was causing me big problems at work. I've done some research and noone else seems to have experienced what I did, but I can't think of anything else it could have been and symptoms stopped just after I stopped taking it. I started having extreme mood swings, was crying every day, couldn't concentrate at all at work, had some bad panic attacks, and genuinely thought I'd gone completely crazy. I do want to give it another go, so next time I'll start the aloe juice first. I've put dealing with candida on hold for a while, I've been having very long days and I'm finding it too much to try and adhere to the diet and supplements at the moment. I'm also going overseas soon, which would make it harder again! ita > > > > Take one third of a cup of Aloe Vera juice each day - it takes about > 4 days to feel the difference. Guest guest
Hi ita My husband had hectic emotional effects when he had die-off from switching our anti-fungal to pau d'arco. So we backed off on the dosage (from 2 3 times daily to 1 twice daily) and that helped a lot. Try a lower dose of the olive leaf and see if that helps. Keen Re: Olive Leaf Extract? Guest guest
Does anyone know of some ways to give Olive Leaf Extract to my 2 year old. I do give my child Olive Leaf Extract, but I put it in with her morning vitamins, which includes super nu thera and magnesium glycinate powder which is very sweet. I think it covers the taste quite well. http://wakingsophie.com > > Does anyone know of some ways to give Olive Leaf Extract to my 2 year old.
