> Dana,

> how did you know that your children couldn't tolerate most supplements?

Any time I added one, he had major problems.

>>My son takes a dozen supplements and while he's not getting better

(after 2 years DAN! protocol) I haven't seen any obvious negative

reaction to supplements. How do I know I'm not giving him something

that makes him worse?

Try removing them, wait a week, then add back one at a time. See if

you notice any changes.

If you are not noticing improvement, you might consider chelation

and/or anti-virals, which caused a lot of improvement for my kids.

How many mg is one capsule?

My kids were on OLE for over 2 years.

I used Henry's brand lysine, but any brand with very few additives and

fillers should be okay. Virastop is an Enzymedica product.

You can, or GSE, or other anti-fungal.

Dear Sissy:

Two things. One, diet is so very important and you are doing the GF-CF and

giving ezymes and a couple of amino acids, ok. But, GF-CF is not enough.

You didn't say, but just wanted to share that my son just has a ton of symptoms

if he gets MSG (search the net for all the names of MSG) or drinks

artificial junk like soda. Thus, keep in mind those kinds of foods, and sweets

make

all symptoms worse. And so does artificial sweeteners, and so does unorganic

apples, or unorganic soy or unorganic corn.

Second: I have seen this before in non-responders, they have a virus or

bacteria infection that hasn't been addressed. Note that sometimes the

bacteria

may go away with other general treatments, but not those stubborn viruses.

You have to hit those directly. There is a certain high Vitamin A protocol

that many are doing. Also lysine and Vitamin C seem to work. I have also

heard of virastop and lauricidin. But the lauricidin will cause lots of side

effects. Anyhow, I am sure there are many other antivirals. Some gentle

antivirals that can be used long-term are ginger root and milk thistle. They

will

inhibit the virus and keep it down, but not rid it. Anyhow, Dana may have a

good viral plan to recommend. You can also talk this over with your DAN,

get him learning, so he can help others more.

Our son had horrible bowels so we had to give a lot to get any gains. We

then stopped to start treating a parasite in his gut (That was the root

of the problem). After that we had to give a lot less. We did get a rash

all over his face and it lasted for a week. Did you follow the dosing

instructions on the enzymestuff web site. You might have to start at

half a capsule once a day or even less.

I don't know. I have never used a parasite cleanse, so I never

researched it.

>>Also can you can give lysine and OLE without taking breaks?

They need to be given at least 2 hours apart. I gave OLE for over two

years here, and lysine for approx 4 months.

That was eliminated with yeast control at my house. It can also be

related to phenol issues for some kids.

I have had a friend offer to do neuro feedback for my son. I was wondering how

your son's treatments affected him. We are waiting to get some chelation time

under our belts before beginning NF, but I would love to hear your experience.

Hi Dana,

I thought I read in another post, that you didn't have a DAN Dr. when you

started out with your children (not sure if you ever used one).

My question is, what tests if any did you do not your kids to monitor there

vitamin levels etc.? Did you pay for private lab test from Great Plains etc.?

I have done the Comprehensive Stool Test through Great Plains which is how I

confirmed his high yeast levels.

I give my 6 yr. old non-verbal Autistic son NCD 2x per day (so far 13 drops

a.m./12 drops p.m. only adding 1 drop per week)/3 packets of Threelac per

day/just started Trienza Enzymes/will be adding the anti fungal rotation this

week for yeast. (We also do Neurofeedback 2 x per week for the past 1 1/2 yrs.

which has fixed his sleep issues).

I like to go slow with him.

All your help and info is greatly appreciated.

Kelley :)

Dianne~

Lysine helps cure the canker sores but they are usually caused by a Vit B

deficiency (complex and B12). Not sure if its relates to the new behavior but

being lethargic may be related to a B12 deficiency. Hope you figure it out.

no, I don't think it is after certain foods. He had them about a month ago

and I thought it was something viral so I gave him Vitamin C and then I

noticed he started with the joint pain.

Are these canker sores that erupt spontaneously or after certain foods? I get

canker sores every time I eat strawberries (like 5 sores to 1 strawberry) and

then I also periodically get one or two without reason.

I had to give lysine for 8 months. The mouth sores went away within

the first week or so, but the rest of the herpes virus took longer to

leave.

Also, you might need to increase the yeast protocol. Lysine causes

herpes die off, and that tends to cause yeast.

Dana,

You mentioned that you taught your son to help with household chores when I

asked how can I do my boys therapy on a schedule and still get household chores

and other responsibilities done.  That is wonderful!!

How do you teach a child to help with certain household tasks when they have no

interest and no skills to do so?  At what age is best to start and what tasks

are good to start with?  My boys have dyspraxia and motor planning problems, but

I would like for them to maybe learn to help me as I prepare their food to cook

and some other simple things.  Just don't know how to go about it.  They are

four.
