Hi. I have an autistic 9 year old son and I was just wondering what everyone

would suggest that I do with him. He is in a regular classes with an aide but

he is definitely behind.

I was just wondering if there were any good supplements to give him. Is it too

late to try to remove the mercury and other toxins? It is kind of depressing

for me to know that the window of opportunity might have passed us by.

If not that, have any supplements seemed to be particularly useful? My son does

not have stomach pains or anything like that. Do you think that enzymes would

still be beneficial? He does 'act out' quite a bit. He can get aggressive very

fast.

Any help (even book suggestions) would be appreciated.

Have you considered going to a DAN or naturopath??? I took mine to an

osteopath....we started with an Organic Acid Test (looks for oxalates,

yeast, bacteria and some other things)....Does your son struggle with

constipation or loose stools??? I did a heavy metal urine test with my 7 yr

old and that is why we are here....

My 13 yr old is PDD/Aspie-like and he doesn't have any obvious issues (other

than some constipation).....he is aggressive and doing chelation would be

out of the question for him, he just couldn't tolerate it....

Does your son struggle with focus??? Fish oils are great for this....

Never consider that you have missed the boat....

Tell us more about your son!!!

Sherrie, The window of opportunity is still open and amazing things can

happen for your children. Never Give Up! I have read of a number of older

children having great improvements with detoxing, hydration and supplements

Hello,

Welcome to the list. I am affiliated with a charity which has a website that

might be helpful to someone just starting out. If you look under Beginner's

Guide and Interventions here www.treatingautism.co.uk you can find some good

information. The files section of AM is also very helpful. This is especially

true of the files regarding chelation, if you know that toxic metals are part of

the problem.

Nine years old is definitely not too late but, regardless of a child's (or

adult's) age, you don't want to withhold help for the problems they are

experiencinng.

I love Dr. Bock's book Cuing Today's Childhood Epidemicx. It is very

basic information and I refer back to it often. It shows how asthma, allergies,

autism and ad/hd are all interrelated. I bought mine used on Amazon for quite

cheap! Jill

I don't know why you'd think that.

look in the pictures section under Bestbirths child #1 and see a 17 year old who

recovered. The " it's too late " stories were not true in our case and I have

heard of many older children recovering.

I would start with digestive enzymes and something for yeast control, like

biotin and/or probiotics.

>>Is it too late to try to remove the mercury and other toxins?

No

It's never too late to start biomedical treatments. If you haven't done so yet,

make sure his diet is cleaned up of all artificial ingredients and try to buy

organic fruits, veggies, dairy and meats. Digestive enzymes really helped both

my sons along with other supps.

I have some info here, more to come on my blog too:
