I gave based on my daughter's age weight and Doctor's recommendation from

lab....WE started with very small doses, and used the versions that best

fit her based on her symptoms. I really cannot explain it totally, but it

is based on the grouping of her different reactions. It is not a single

answer. That is why I recommend the books, for instance there are 3-4

different types of niacin, (niacin, niacimide, inosital hex-something,

etc. ) and based on your child's issues determines the type you take and

and the volume. same goes with the E's, C's, and other B's. Plus you have

to add the zinc in there as well...

I am not a doctor, DAN or expert and do not want anyone to just go out and

start buying the stuff, that is why I recommend the books to first

understand why. And the results behind it.... Most of us do not have money

to waste, so to purchase something andnot have it be the right mix, would

be a waste...and also could harm , more than help....

We get most of our products from Vitacost.com adn the zinc mix we get

direct from the lab.....

I just wanted to second how important a resource I think that orthomolecular

medicine is to our families. I don't know those two books, but I got a bunch of

other ones from the library and it amazes me to think that so much has been

known about these issues and so much has been done and yet almost no one knows

about it, even many DAN!s. Treating Pyrroluria wasn't as miraculous for us, but

for us treating Histadelia has been like that (high blood histamine levels).

This field is very much worth looking into.

The one thing that I don't think they get in orthomolecular medicine is the role

of the gut flora in creating these deficiencies (one bacteria produces something

that sounds like kruptopyrrole, others produce histamine), and how much these

problems can be resolved by correcting gut flora. Our family has had our

miraculous improvement from going on the GAPS diet, which is based on SCD but

more of a therapeutic protocol designed for people with neurological symptoms.

I think that this diet has corrected many of our underlying nutritional

problems, which were caused by gut flora imbalance.

Good gut flora produces biotin, CoQ10, the B vitamins, butyrate (which keeps

ammonia levels down) and absorbs and neutralizes oxalates and histamine, for

starters. Histamine is one of the primary controllers of how sensory input is

processed in the brain and what " volume " it is perceived at.

Glad to hear about your success!
