Guest guest
My 2 year old DS does totally hyper on any liquid medication as they all contain preservatives. He reacts to benzoates. Nystatin in UK contains E216 and E218 which are benzoates and have been proven to cause hyperactivity. Off course it could be the die off instead. In our case I know it was (at least partially) the E's as they also affect the nerves in his face and he can't eat or swallow - this happened when we gave him nystatin. I'm just about to tackle yeast problems again but I'll be using natural supps this time. best wishes Alison R (UK) On 8 May 2010 22:07, stacey_pizzano <stacey_pizzano@...> wrote: > > > Hi Everyone, > We started Nystatin this morning with our almost 3 year old son. Guest guest
When we started Nystatin we started slowly and then added more doses as we saw the reaction. You can give charcoal 2hrs away from supplements to mop up the crud from the die-off. That will help a lot. But yes, you will see reactions this quickly. We did. nancy j From: stacey_pizzano <stacey_pizzano@...> Subject: Started Nystatin Date: Saturday, May 8, 2010, 2:07 PM  Hi Everyone, We started Nystatin this morning with our almost 3 year old son. The bottle says 4x a day for 6 weeks but I thought we would start with 2x a day for about a week. We gave him the first dose this morning and a couple hours later he was off the wall. I have never seen him like this. Usually he is active, but this was clearly hyper. He was stimming almost constantly, which he hardly does, and he was hitting his sister and throwing things. Behaviors we eliminated for the most part months ago. We didnt give him his morning supplements instead I waited 2 hours after the Nystatin dose. He is on the GFCF diet but I was told liquid Nystatin would be fine. Could it be a reaction to the medicine? Dye off effects, but so soon and on the first day?? I dont know if I should give it to him again tonight because I am worried he will never go to sleep. Plus, I cant imagine doing this 4x a day. Anyone else see this with their kids? Any advice, suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated! !!! Thanks, Stacey

Guest guest
Yes I saw this with my son..he couldnt tolerate it, and it had nothing to do with die off. He actually did better with diflucan. Which we only used for a short time. It could be die off but some kids do not toelrate it. Made my son the same way and for him it was when he was in pain he acted like this before he had words to express belly ache. So just be on the watch : )  40 and Mom to three Tash 23 ooops..new Mommy ( I'm a Grammy to Kyri 2 ) Casey-Mae 14..sweet as pie Elijah 3.5 ..
