Guest guest
My now 12 year old ds has had OCD symptoms since early May and we have been giving him (1) capsule (500 mg) of OLE in tomato sauce daily (that's the only way he takes it...he rarely can swallow capsules.) If he misses it for a few days we see a marked increase in anxiety so I know it helps. But he still is anxious. We recently had him tested for Strep and his antibodies came up slightly elevated. I don't know if that is the cause of the OCD, but I believe it's possible. He also has high histamine levels. He especially has fears about swallowing, and at times now will spit all over his shirt because he says he's afraid to swallow even though he knows his saliva can't hurt him. Since he has social challenges already, you can imagine how this poses additional problems at school when his shirt is all wet. He's in 6th grade so this really stands out among his peers. I have read where Dana has mentioned OLE, Lysine and Vitamin C. So at this point, I am wondering if I should increase the dosage of the OLE. Should I add Lysine now and if so, how much? (He's small, only about 52 pounds.) He takes Vitamin C and Niacin along with compounded vitamins from The Pfeiffer Center every day, but I could increase the Vitamin C...he currently gets 1100 mg a day. He is currently on Nystatin to fight a serious yeast problem that we don't yet have under control. Should I change the yeast protocol to combat any increased yeast from the Lysine? I want to do everything I can to eliminate the OCD. That is my profound hope for 2009...that we free him from this awful fear that seems to be controlling his young life. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Yes, these are anti-virals [the OLE also eliminated strep here], and part of my son's OCD was related to viruses. >> So at this point, I am > wondering if I should increase the dosage of the OLE. Be sure to give it at least 2 hours apart from the OLE. >> He takes Vitamin C and Niacin along with > compounded vitamins from The Pfeiffer Center every day, but I could increase the Vitamin > C...he currently gets 1100 mg a day. Yes, if you increase it, it might be helpful. Anti-virals tend to increase yeast, so watch for yeast overgrowth issues. > He is currently on Nystatin to fight a serious yeast problem that we don't yet have under > control. I used biotin and GSE to control the yeast. > I want to do everything I can to eliminate the OCD. Yeast caused OCD for my son, and so did B vitamin deficiency, especially B1, B12, and folic acid.
