SERIOUSLY YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT RED MEAT BECAUSE IT IS HARD ON DIGESTION. MY DOCTOR SAYS TO STAY AWAY FROM STRAWBERRIES BECAUSE THEY ARE VERY HIGH IN SUGAR. NO FATTY FOODS, NO VITAMIN A BECAUSE IT IS VERY TOXIC TO THE LIVER. ANYONE WHO IS NOT ON TREATMENTS SHOULD BE TAKING MILKTHISTLE AND LETCITHIN. TOMATO'S, LEMONS, GRAPEFRUITS, ORANGES AND ANYTHING THAT IS HIGH IN VITAMIN C IS GOOD. YOU ALSO NEED PROTIEN SO CHICKEN AND EGGS ARE GOOD. I HOPE THIS HELPS. Guest guest
Dana..I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Please do keep us updated. I do know he will have to be alcohol free for 6 mo before they will do treatment but I don't see the Metadone creating any problems. I'm on some strong pain medications because of my spinal nerve problems and the doctor have left me on them and said nothing about stopping them when I start treatment. Some doctors prescribe methadone for pain when other pain medications disagree with them. How are you doing? I'm finally on the list for late summer or early fall...judy Bad news! Detox? Hi everyone, You all have been so much help to me. I have a question that maybe you or others you know may can answer. My brother has refused for years to be tested for HepC/B. But he finally got so bad sick that he had too. He is positive for HepC and prob. had for many years like me. They have to rerun test for HepB and Hiv because of inconsistencies in blood but currently showing Neg??? The problem is he is a heavy drinker and is on Methadone due to being a heroin attic. Don't know about detox for those. Never went through detox and never did heroin or been on Methadone. Does anyone have info on this??? He will prob. have to go through state. No insurance? Please help with info if you or someone you know has info on this?? Thank you! Guest guest
Judy, Good to here from you and glad you are on the list. Thank you for your input and concern. Helps me to talk. I actually think I am so close to a nervous breakdown I can't stand it. I keep halfing to get away from the house. Between handling the estate, a 16 year old, my health, doctors and all that run around and trying to keep up with life in general is hard. My brother was very hard to look at the last two time I half been to Texas. I know it is an addiction and I care, then being diagnosed with this and who knows what. And thinking of him going through Detox. Wow, he is hard to deal with now. Anger explosion, mood swings, paranoyia. I don't know. And my poor mom down there. I just can't stand to think of what it is doing to her if it is effecting me 1500 miles away! I did learn that YES, you can be treated on Methadone. I still am not an advocate. I here so many bad things about it. I actually did alot of research and talked to the Federal Government. They are the ones to watch over Methadone clinics. I can't believe they do not require a test for HepC, HepB and HIV before putting them on Methadone!!! It makes me sick!!!! Well, I know, I am going on and on... Thank you for listening!! I need that just like I know we all do.. Hugs, good luck, and think positive about treatment. Dana --- Judy Mckee <tmckee@...> wrote: > Dana..I'm sorry to hear about your brother. Guest guest
Sandy, Thank you for that laugh. I did not expect that one. But if you want some horse medicine, you might wanna try the vet. Funny thing is, my dog had a blatter infection and I had left over antibiotics, so I split the dose in half and gave it to her for 10 days and it cleared it up. Do you know what the Vet would of charged me?? Tehee, you just never know!! Dana Sandy Booton wrote:Dana you have my vote! Let me have some of that horse medicine...teeheehee! Guest guest
Carol, My hepatologist told me to only take Tylenol. He said that the other pain relievers are very slow to show liver damage, but acetominaphen damage presents early and can be reversed. That's why they recommend it. I'm so sorry for what you are going through, you are in my prayers. Marilyn dana I did not have headaches at the start of this treatment, now I seem to have them all the time?? I hate taking anything as all u are suppose to take is Tylenol, and that is not good for the liver. Guest guest
Dana, Most people who have Varices and Acites do indeed have cirrhosis. They are both indicators of end stage liver failure. Varices is a huge cause of death in HepC patients as they will bleed to death before help can arrive to stop it. Don't put too much stock in the CDC numbers. They tend to downplay HCV tremendously and have not updated ANY of their numbers for HCV since 1996. LeighAnn
Guest guest
With one program, I have all channels turned on, and get about 4-5 days, with about 15-18 hours of usage each day. In another program, I've got either 1 or 2 channels turned off (can't remember), and still get the same amount of time with the batteries. Can't complain about not getting the 3-4 days worth of battery life! ;^) Best, Andy 1200 vs 1800 Hi Everyone, I don't get in touch with you very often as I occasionaly keep you post update when I have the news to share or asking some questions. I had mapping two weeks ago at Unversity of Utah CI Clinic. My mapping from 1200 to 1800 hertz which I like it. I noticed that 1800 is a faster stimulation that really work very well with my brain. However, I felt disappointed that the batteries lasted short less than 2 hours with 1800. 1200 with batteries reamin the same for 3 to 4 days which I have been using varta battery. I like it alot. My audiologist suggested me to try new toshiba for 1800 and see how it goes if it lasts longer. But if it doesn't last longer then I may have to go back to the clinic again. An audiologist, probably be planning to turn off few channels that may improve battery life to last longer with 1800. I am using 1200 hertz right now which I am having little hard time hearing few speeches like T, R and S. With 1800 , I can hear all of speeches. I prefer fast stimuluation. Oh, I use ACE for both 1200 and 1800. SPEAK didn't work well for me. Anyone of you have experienced the battery life with the difference between 1200 and 1800? I'd like to have your feedback. I appreicate that. Have a wonderful week! Guest guest
Andy, You're quiet right. But my situtation is little different. When I got 1800 map that programmed, however, the batteries only lasted 2 hours or less that is unusual. So I am going to get toshiba batteries ordered then try this to see how it goes from there. I will have to expertiment as my audie suggested me to do unless it doesn't succeed therefore I will go back to the clinic to get another mapping. Perhaps, my audie may turn off few channels which I wouldn't mind to have 3-4 days worth of it. I have 1200 map that lasts for 3-4 days that it's worth anyway. Thanks for your feedback. Guest guest
Dana, Check in your original kit you received. We all got one six pack of Toshiba batteries with it. I'm thinking you never used them. This would be a good time to try them out. Toshiba batteries usually give the CI user 30 hours.
