Guest guest
Hello all, I used to come to this group before, but I stopped for a while, just wanted to say that for people I have spoken with in the past. I have some questions if someone can help. Jade, my 6 year old, pdd-nos, is going october 6th to be evaluated for possibly taking meds to help with her non compliance , meltdowns, pulling instructor's hair, shirts when frustrated at school. We have done behavioral methods up until this point and we believe that she is capable of learning more, her inability to stay still and focus , concentrate, tend to one task without getting up and rolling on floor, going to get her toys is hindering her progress. We have always believed that she has a build up of yeast in her body from over 25 ear infections since birth, but hasn't really been getting sick this last year. Could yeast still be present in her body and affecting her behavior? She does the uncontrollable giggling, stims, she also does this thing that looks like a seizure, but the nuerologist calls it a stereotypy? She says its like almost like a stim for Jade. Sensory wise, she wants pressure on ehr face, takes her chin and digs it into our shoulders, takes palm of our hands and pushes it up against her chin. (WOndering as well if her two teeth coming in where there is a space for four teeth could be a problem , looks like the next two teeth won't have enough room to come up and I wonder if her gums are numb.) She has trigger words occasionally that can set her off to grab a teacher or a student if she can't get near the teacher. A couple of weeks ago it was the sound of a kiss from me. She has a high carb diet, hardly no protein or fats, since I kind of restricted her dairy, cheese, yogurts, because I felt she used to have a lot of mucus backed up from dairy. Where can I start if going to a DAN is not an option right now? I know for a fact she needs Essential Fatty Acid, none in her diet. Won't eat nuts, seeds, only likes milk on spoon from cereal, will eat eggs and beans ( eats lots of red beans so protein from there). Is there a supplement I can try before we go the way of possible ADHD medication next month? Also, her melatonin does not always have her sleep through the night. She will wake up at 3 am sometimes til 5am then have to get up at 7:30 and I think it intereferes with school. I have heard there is an extended release melatonin. She is 72 lbs. She gets 36 drops of liquid melatonin nightly. I have read that a side effect of ADHD meds sometimes affect sleep . I guess I'm asking is 1. should I treat for yeast, even if she has not been getting sick this year, but still has symptoms associated with yeast in the body 2. What is a good supplement from Kirkman's, Nordic Naturals to assist with her behavior and to help her concentrate and focus ? 3. Sensory wise, has anyone every seen a behavior that looks like a seizure, (she has been tested several times) but was diagnosed as a stereotypy? She lays on floor crosses her legs, makes her whole body stiff, and does it alot when her favorite cartoon comes on , but even does it when she is at school?? 4. Anyone know the correct dosage for Melatonin and do you know of an extended release formula or an alternative that is not a prescription? 5. Lastly, any success in children with autism being treated for their hyperness, inability to concentrate, focus, with a prescription that does not turn them into a zombie????? She is potty trained now, can write her name some, can read words that she likes like cartoon words, but has no social communicatino skills, and she repeats all day, walks around with quotes from favorite cartoons. Thanks if you can answer even one question. I'll put all the responses together and read them! Thanks for reading!!!!
