ear infections - first step?

Hello,

My 3.5 year old son has been getting recurring ear infections. Right now he's

had one for

almost a week. He spikes a fever and shivers, then it disappears with Motrin. I

think his

immune system is poor as he is constantly getting colds and such. Does anyone

have any

suggestions and dosage for something I can give him now to help? He's on an

antibiotic as

well. I haven't done that in the past, but his fever was so high I went ahead

and agreed.

But I don't see it helping, which means it's viral, correct?
