Guest guest
I know that for many, the Houston Enzymes help with gluten issues as well as casein...for some, they can even go off the diet with these enzymes. Really Need some advise from those that are doing it already!! Our son had the test done from Enterolab that showed he had a gluten sensitivity. He also had the celiac test which came up negative. I emailed Enterolab about giving an enzyme for gluten and introducing it back into his diet ( he has been GFCF for 1 year ) they said it would help but that he should be gluten free for the rest of his life. if he is ONLY gluten sensitive would not an enzyme for gluten help?? Please if any one out there had the same test and went ahead and gave gluten products with enzymes and had no effects ( bad) let me know. Guest guest
I guess the reply that I got from Enterolab " gluten free for the rest of his life " has me very concerned that I will hurt him when I do give him gluten with enzymes. Are most of our children just gluten sensitive? > > I know that for many, the Houston Enzymes help with gluten issues as well as casein...for some, they can even go off the diet with these enzymes. > Really Need some advise from those that are doing it already!! > > > Our son had the test done from Enterolab that showed he had a gluten > sensitivity. Guest guest
From what I understand, have read and researched...yes, our kids are prone to these sensitivities....many here have been able to give gluten and casein foods with the Houston enzymes with much success. I know that DeFelice writes about it in her books. Guest guest
the purpose of the enzymes is to " catch any gluten " that is hidden. a gf diet has to be followed. healing can happen but it takes time and the ability to digest protein to heal the villi. can he have some in the future is to be seen , but if it is too soon it's quite a setback. the genes don't change if it is genetic. if it's an insult from too high carbohydrate a diet a rotation diet can be entertained at some point in the future and tha's where the right enzyme product will benefit. the right enzyme product should have all the enzymes and substrate to heal the mucous membranes and I haven't seen it adequately addressed on some of these enzyme sites. hth, linda rn enzyme therapist Really Need some advise from those that are doing it already!! > > > Our son had the test done from Enterolab that showed he had a gluten > sensitivity. Guest guest
My son has an actual Gluten/Wheat food allergy, and even though it is not very severe I had the same concerns. My son did not test positive for Celiac, howeverright now he also has the Gluten sensitivity. We have been Gluten Free for 3 months and I had his blood tested again and already the sensitivity has decreased dramatically. I was advised that I need to heal my sons gut issues..ie..no more permeability before re-introducing foods with trace amounts of Gluten which is why we use Enzymes as well as probiotics to heal his stomach. I hope this is helpful. Guest guest
We have been gluten free for 1 year now. I feel that he is ready for introduction of foods that were once off limits. I tried goat cheese first with enzymes and NO REACTIONS! He actually has become more vocal and trying to talk...even though what he is trying to say is like....babbling! BUT it is a start because he NEVER said anything before. The only thing I have done different is give him back cheese. This makes me wonder...if I could give him *some* gluten. His gut is well on the way to healing because he has had formed bowel movements for awhile now, more eye contact, less stimming AND SLEEPING THROUGH the night!!!! Can you tell the last one makes me very happy!! lol anyways I appreciate all the responses and I have just recieved 's book on enzymes and reading it through and through. thanks again everyone > > > > > > I know that for many, the Houston Enzymes help with gluten issues > > as well as casein...for some, they can even go off the diet with > > these enzymes. > > > Really Need some advise from those that are > > doing it already!! > > > > > > > > > Our son had the test done from Enterolab that showed he had a > > gluten > > > sensitivity. Guest guest
I am very happy for you with your child's advances! I don't want to bust your bubble, but I had been gluten free for almost two years when I had my positive test from Entero Lab. So I still had antibodies after that long. I am not sure I will ever be brave enough to try a gluten challenge, although I do think (dream) about it now that I have the enzymes. It just hurts so bad when I get gluten. I turn into a zombie. I did try a dairy challenge with the enzymes, and I felt good immediately after eating/drinking dairy, but after about three or four " tries " in a row, (in a matter of two or three days) I got symptoms again. Nothing you would be able to see, and if I were non-verbal, you wouldn't know I had any trouble. Unless you count snoring loudly, and having sinus trouble. So I would say, if you do try this, be very observant, and maybe just give these foods as a treat occasionally with long periods of time in between, especially if your child can't express how s/he feels, or is too young to realize anything is 'off'. Just my thoughts. I would never try to tell anyone what to do, I only know myself. You guys have been so much help to me! Guest guest
This is my plan. We have been gfcfsf for 3 1/2 years and I plan to start enzymes soon, stay gfcfsf for about 6 months on enzymes, then see if we can do occasional infractions without major regression on the enzymes. We will probably never drink cow milk again, but it would be nice to go to a party and eat small amounts of food that is questionable without having to worry as long as we have the enzymes. -Undiagnosed Asperger's Syndrome Stay at home mom to 3, Wife to -6-6-02-Autism Spectrum, the light of my life Katy-11-19-03-undiagnosed genetic syndrome that includes cleft palate-Pierre Robin Sequence, scoliosis, heart defects, short stature, low muscle tone, developmental delay, oral defensiveness, g tube fed part time-working on oral feeding, slightly dysmorphic features, and my joy J.D-no issues except he is totally in love with mommy, cutest baby in the world visit my blog http://busiestmommyinamerica.blogspot.com " If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart!
