Hi all,

Just spoke with my DAN and she said that my son's recent onset of tics (eye

blinking & nodding) was highly indicative of strep (many of you here have said

the same thing)

The thing that really is making her think this is the fact that this onset of

tics coincided with a really bad tooth decay issue (he ended up having to have

an extraction Fri.)

She said dental carries are often due to a strain of strep (strep A? I think).

It makes sense because my son has many ongoing cavities and it's just not

normal!

Anyhow, I wanted to know if any of you have heard of this. Also what in your

opinion is the best treatment for strep other than Pennicillin or a Sulpha

related antibiotic. My son is allergic to Pennicillin and Sulpha drugs. If he

must take antibiotics, is Nystatin the best protection against yeast? Yeast is a

big problem for us!

She said also to use birch derived Xylitol for the strep but it's not as

effective as the antibiotic of course. Are any of you using Xylitol for this

purpose? In what form do you take it? Gum? Any recs for brands?
