Guest guest
I have tried Houston's enzymes several times with my 18 year old son who has severe regressive autism. Don't know what I am doing wrong. He has long standing digestive distress. Even with the low and slow method Trienza causes diarheaa after a few days. He also seems very anxious and on edge. This time, I dissolved a capsule in a about 2 oz of filtered water and just give a little before meals. 1 capsule will last about 3 days. Should I start with the individual ones to see if there is one bothering his stomach. Drissia
Guest guest
Diareah usually means it's too much. Since he's so sensitive maybe you could try a single enzyme, or do any other members know of a gentler enzyme than trienza? If you go for the single enzyme, I'd try maybe a gluten enzyme first...and do the low and slow. Maybe a multienzyme is just too much for him? Sorry, wish I knew something more helpful
Guest guest
I had to start them separately with my son. Started with no fenol - saw an unbelievable improvement. We then slowly added so zyme prime and he had a total clear out of mucus. We then added peptizyde. He became uncomfortable with this so we stopped the peptizyde for a week then added it again (as per advice in enzymes and autism book). Once on a full dose we switched to tri enza with no problems and it has been well worth it. We still add a bit extra no fenol with it as we know this is where is biggest problem is - sulphation. Guest guest
Agree. How about Peptizide? The people on the phone at Houston are terrific by the way and they might be interested in your experience with their product. > > > Diareah usually means it's too much. Guest guest
Starting one at time is good advise! Even just a sprinkle. The anxiety may be a little die off. You can email Houston Enzymes also
Guest guest
My son is sensitive to some of Houston's enzymes. I can't remember right now what ingredient it was in the enzyme but Houston sells enzymes without this enzyme in it for the very sensitive. I would try to isolate whaic enzyme is causing the problem because enzymes are so important.

Guest guest
You may want to try betaine hcl along with it. If I remember correctly, my daughter was getting angry with just enzymes alone but when we added betaine hcl she does great.

Guest guest
Hi, My son does not tolerate enzymes right now. They did benefit him for some time and his GI issues changed and he cannot tolerate them anymore. Enzymes here cause reflux. When his GI issues get worst he regresses, so for us keeping that under control is a priority. Sometimes if the GI is under stress it may not be the time to start with enzymes yet. you may want to do testing for bacteria. I have found the testing from metametrix very helpful. probiotics are helpful here we open capsule with water and give it in a glass of water at night before going to sleep or first thing in the morning. These are things that together with many others take time to show improvements or help keep everything under control. When we did enzymes here it only worked mixed with food at the begining of a meal or after a meal. > > I have tried Houston's enzymes several times with my 18 year old son who has severe regressive autism. Guest guest
You might try giving a little bit of baking soda right after meals. The GI problems could be a pH problem and the bicarb can help with that. Klaire has a product called Bi-Carb that alot of parents have found helpful.
