Guest guest
I form-lettered this email, forgive the impersonal nature. It beats getting mixed up on who/what list I've sent to. It's July. That is Christian's birth month and next month is his death month, for want of a better description. Since I have joined some new lists upon learning has autism and since people have joined the lists we now share since last august, I will explain what this is. For those who know, it's time to start collecting again and I can send the file for the labels again. If you need. just LMK For those that don't, every year about this time, in honor and in memory of my 6th child, that passed away at the young age of 13 months--we had next to no warning-- I spearhead the effort to gather as many boxes of nice, soft lotion tissues like Puffs and donate them to local hospital ICU's. I have a logo and a trademark to go on a label to put on each box of tissues or purse pack.. whatever you can afford. It came about from my nose being so sore within the first 12 hours of being stuffed in ICU, by his bedside and of course crying my eyes out and blowing my nose. My nose took 3 weeks to recover, it got so sore from being wiped by that sandpaper they had to offer me. Hence the logo " ... your heart hurts but your nose doesn't have to " .. I had that idea at the hotel I believe.. or somewhere.. I remember telling Christian about it, so maybe it wasn't. As I recall, he liked it. I briefly started a NPO (non-profit organization) but that did not work out. It was not the right time to do that yet. SO, instead, this is our effort. One day, I would like it to be a full time job. After I have retired from active momhood, I will pursue that. You may either send me the boxes of tissues to take to the hospital where he died or gather as many as you can and hit as many ICU's as you can. I would ask please that you put a label or some way to mention him on the box so that people know of our project. I see this as a grassroots effort and I would like it to be in every ICU in the country and then in other countries. That is the Great Vision of PICU Tissues. I thought it was a good title too since the ward he was in was PICU and his favorite game was Peek A Boo. We will be going there this year on August 23. My goal this year is to fill the back of suburban with tissue boxes. They said size does not matter, they will use every tissue. " no tissue gets wasted " .. if anyone happens to want to go with, you are invited. I'll cry all over you and then we'll go drown our sorrows at Cracker Barrel over a brownie sundae (which I couldn't eat last year since I was hypoglycemic.. but actually, I think I did anyway) Nita, and the crew: 15, Jon 13, 11, 9, 7, Christian (RIP: 7/16/03 to 8/22/04), 2 and Isaac, 2/3/08 http://momof6.dotphoto.com for not necessarily current pictures http://nitasspot.blogspot.com I'm like a snapdragon: half of me has snapped and the other is draggin'
