Guest guest
Hello, My name is Emma and i just recently joined this group, I am the mother of 4 year old Connor diagnosed with high functioning Autism and Sensory Processing disorder. I have read both Enzymes books by Defelice. I would like to start Enzymes on Connor but unsure how to start. I ordered AFP-Peptizyde right before i started reading Enzymes Go with your gut and now wondering if i should go with the great low-n- slow method or start with the high protease at very low doses. After trying to give Connor supplements and vitamins this summer it became very clear that Connor's system can not handle them. Connor becomes very violent, defiant, impossible to deal with when i give any supplement, Vitamin B, fish oil you name it. From what i have read this makes me believe that I am dealing with some gut issues. This is where i get stumped as to which way to go. The other major issue we are dealing with at this time is regression due to a surgery my son had on Oct 16th. After diagnosed with Sleep Apnea he had surgery to remove his adenoids and Tonsils removed. Unable to tell if the surgery help the Apnea cause my son has not been the same since. His behavior is 100% worse, he is 100% more fatigued , seems to be so scared. I have taken him back to the doctors who have no idea what could be going on. I am taking him to a new Dr this week and I have some high hopes with this Dr. So with all of this i am very scared to start something new, but getting desperate to help my son. Sorry this is so long and input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Emma
Guest guest
Hi Emma, We started with both AFP Peptizyde chewables and Zyme prime chewables at the same time. We had some adjustment issues so we had to go back to Zyme prime alone first and then build up to a full capsule with each meal (at the time a year ago, one capsule = 3 chewables.) I'm not sure if that is still accurate but anyway we had to go to one chewable per meal for a while and then slowly work up to 2, then 3 chewables/or one full capsule that we put in juice. Then once we had Zyme prime on board at a full capsule, we did the same with AFP Peptizyde, and then No-Fenol. My son had been GF/CF (Gluten Free/Casein Free) for 6 months prior to starting enzymes so we only gave him gluten or casein with AFP Peptizyde because that's the enzyme that works on those things. You match the enzyme to the kind of food it breaks down. My understanding is that Zyme Prime is kind of broad spectrum so it works on a variety of foods and that AFP Peptizyde works on the gluten and casein. No Fenol works on phenols on fruits and vegetables. You can find out much more detailed info on their web site www.houston-enzymes.com If you start with the AFP Peptizyde you may see some of the reactions that we saw...my son had an underlying yeast issue so if you see weird reactions (my son was jumping on chairs at school and laughing for no reason) it may be the AFP Peptizyde uncovering a yeast issue. I wonder if when your son had surgery he also had antibiotics. If so, perhaps you are now dealing with a yeast flare up from the antibiotics. Maybe ask your new doctor about that. There is a test we ran called the OAT (Organic Acid Test) and that indicated that my son had a very significant yeast issue. There are both natural and prescription anti-fungals that can address this. Dana has a lot of info on her site which I think is danasview.net. She answers a lot of questions on this board and she is very experienced. She has helped me quite a bit. I hope this helps and that your little guy feels better soon. You might also want to read a book I just recommended called " The Ultramind Solution " by Dr. Mark Hyman. It was really helpful for me to read. He talks about how behavioral/attention and other " mental " issues are really physical issues that can be helped through a very healthy diet and through supplementation. He has a website too...www.ultramind.com Hope this helps. in Illinois > > > Hello, > > My name is Emma and i just recently joined this group, I am the mother > of 4 year old Connor diagnosed with high functioning Autism and > Sensory Processing disorder.
