Guest guest
Hi, Has anyone heard of anything that would make a small child suddenly stop breathing and then start back up again? This has happened to one of the children at our church several times now. He was able to tell his father " (name) needs help " right before it happened the first time, and did not seem to suffer any ill effects from it the first 2 or 3 times it happened, as he started right back up again, but this last one was different, with him losing and regaining consciousness several times. I'm hoping someone out there might have an idea to suggest to the parents, who are working with top doctors, but so far everyone's stumped. (They've done neurological and cardiological consults). Thanks.

Hi Does the child have sleep apnea as well as this " wake " apnea? I've heard that many adults with obstructive sleep apnea do experience cessations of breathing while awake as well - more so if anxious. Another thing which this may be some form of is " absence seizures " - or petit mals. These kids usually have an otherwise normal neurological system. On this board some time ago someone linked their child's losses of consciousness with magnesium deficiency. Good luck [

Can be SIDS-like, which can be caused by antimony toxicity/poisoning. Apnea issues can be caused by food intolerances and yeast overgrowth. >> This has happened to one of the children at our church several times now. I would consider metal toxicity and milk intolerance first. Dana
