For those of you who have to deal with phenol sensitivity, I want to suggest

you look into- OK -I will try to spell this right- PHENOLSULFATRANSFERASE

DEFICIENCY. (There may be a dash in there somewhere.)

Apparently this is what I have and it is why the epsom salts baths help me

so much.

I found out because I started taking aspirin daily (for heart) and eating

coconut products. Both are extremely high in salycilates. I got new

symptoms, and felt worse, so started digging (again) and found out about

PHENOLSULFATRANSFERASE DEFICIENCY.

I tried the soaks and immediately saw improvement. I tried a phenol free

diet, and felt better, but so deprived and bored with the diet.

Just a thought...

Hi there,

I have been going through the exact same thing> Things are going

great and then a set back. Two weeks ago I made a great discovery.

You are doing everything right and then he ate something that

completly sets us back again. But we are already wheat free egg free

and diary free so now what. Make a long story short my son was

allergic to Phenols so I read the Feingold Diet and within a few

days I have a new child. No kidding.!!!!!! He had done so great on

the Digest Gold and the Virostop that I thought is was a virus but

then we switched to Valtrax and all H... broke loose. Well it was the

blue die in the pill. So anyway it is a thought. The way you see if

your child is a chemically sensetive child is just try the diet and

then if you see a difference it becomes the treatment. No red apple

Almonds so on. Food additives....

Hello.

Ours is a rather long story now. We've been a member of this group and posted a

couple of times.

Finally, we have arrived at our goal. Our son can eat food! :)

Our son is in is mid 20s, blind, autistic, and mentally challenged.

Going on a year and a half ago, he started with canker sores. Having had canker

sores in my early 20s, his adult sister did too, that went away after a couple

of months - we thought his would too.

We were wrong!!!!

Started an intense journal. It included everything I thought might tell me

something.

We got all the way down to a no food diet.

Everything gave canker sores or another equally horrid problem!

Digestive enzymes to the rescue!!! But even those had problems. Peptizyde

brought mouth sores that just looked like his lip split and bleed. Thus when

Trienza was introduced - it did the same. As well as so many other enzymes you

can't imagine - or maybe y'all can. :)

We tried the mega doses of vitamins and although they might work at first or

seem to help.... many times it needed another vitamin or mineral to 'work' and

the products and expense were going up - and the canker sores just kept coming!

Some things seemed to help for awhile and then would stop or we would have other

problems. Ashwaghanda still works, but increases sexual interest so can only be

done on weekends.

My son also has liver complications and we had to deal with ammonia and other

liver problems -which will lead us to the solution...

First, we were eating at a Thai restaurant to celebrate a family event and we

gave Mango juice. We also gave his enzymes, but fully expected a mouth full of

canker sores. None came!

Enter a juice that we can give his enzymes in and that amazingly enough -

doesn't give canker sores! Mango! :)

He had/has phenol issues to so we didn't think an 'orange' drink would work.

What a pleasant surprise! :)

Still, we were getting cankers with certain foods. Hit and miss.

Then we tried dandelion leaves. Yes, 3 fresh washed dandelion leaves out of our

yard... and then he could eat more foods. In fact, he went several weeks with no

canker sores!

Add milk thistle and even more foods come back into play!

We discovered V-Gest was the only enzymes that worked for him without causing

problems. The good news is that the rest of the family improved greatly using

his cast offs. :)

We stopped all the mega doses of his vitamins and minerals and went to

'dustings'. I open a cap, let some fall out, wrap the cap back up and put back

in the bottle. This has helped more than the mega doses and we don't have many

we have to give beyond the multivitamin/mineral supplement he takes. Dr.

Schulzes Superfood. He's been on this product for 12 years at least and it still

works. Thank goodness.

I could give anyone interested a full listing of what we went through. Just PM

me.

But, the final foods became available with molybdenum from Autism Coach! Right

to the reds of tomatos!

We still give dandelion and milk thistle at every meal as well as a V-Gest to

aid in digestion, but my son now eats most every food he wants... and that seems

a miracle from the beginning when every food he ate gave canker sores!

In this long journey, we discovered that new skills can come late in life as our

son grows in expressive language and has joined our world more and more. The

team that works with him say they have never seen the kind of improvements at

this late age.

Never give up. We all thought we'd go nuts at different times in this journey

and we can't thank all of you on this site enough for all of your help - just by

posting what was happening in your lives.

We hope our story helps someone is someway!
