Guest guest
I have one child who didn't speak until 4.5. He could and would say single words if we prompted, but no real conversations until close to 5. He is mildly, mildly affected with mercury poisoning. Miriam From: markrosenbaum@... Guest guest
My son didn't really repeat words until he was three, then would go weeks without anything. Short " I want " sentences came at four and a half, with some labeling and scripting. By third grade he could answer some direct questions and comment freely. Today, he is completely verbal (14yo), mainstreamed with an aid for behavior support, in the gifted program in eighth grade. He is taking French and loves it. Teaching him to read and capitalizing on hyperlexia really helped his language, academic, and social skills develop. Keep plugging with biomedical. Sometimes they get better slowly over years, not instantly with one treatment. Build on what your child loves, or you will be swimming against the current. > > I would love to chat with anyone whose child started talking late! >
Guest guest
> I would love to chat with anyone whose child started talking late! My son made his first intentional word-sound at age 4 [before this, he only laughed and cried, never babbled]. He said his first word at age 6. Today he is 13 and talks all the time.
