Guest guest
Hi Listmates, My son is on 121 days of antifungal (Nizarol) and about 3 weeks back, he started grinding his teeth both day and night. The teeth grinding has worsened over the last 3 weeks, and now he is slow to eat his food ( seems like slow chewing cos he does not move his jaw much and just keep the food in mouth) and today I saw him opening and closing his jaw just out of the blues. Has anyone any idea what may be causing this? He is on the following suppls: - Nizoral - Magnesium citrate - Zinc - Vit B6, B3, Biotin, methylfolate - transfer factor - MB12 shots - custom probiotics, Therbiotic Detox support, mutaflor - was on olive leaf extract but has discontinued from today onwards. Many thanks for any input Regards,

At my house, this was caused by yeast overgrowth and mineral deficiency. >>The teeth grinding has worsened over the last 3 weeks, and now he is slow to eat his food ( seems like slow chewing cos he does not move his jaw much and just keep the food in mouth) and today I saw him opening and closing his jaw just out of the blues. For my son, this was caused by B2 deficiency. Does he also have cracks or redness at the corners of his mouth? > He is on the following suppls: > - Nizoral > - Magnesium citrate > - Zinc > - Vit B6, B3, Biotin, methylfolate > - transfer factor > - MB12 shots > - custom probiotics, Therbiotic Detox support, mutaflor > - was on olive leaf extract but has discontinued from today onwards. The mB12 will deplete B2. This is what caused my son's B2 deficiency. Or, it may be that the Nizoral is not eliminating the strain of yeast your child has. Guest guest
My 5yo grinds his teeth at night, and it started when his copper and zinc ratio became off. He's copper deficient, and his hair test showed zinc was going up slightly, throwing off the ratio. Someone told me copper relaxes muscles in the jaw. I give him a little copper supplement, and it has gotten a little better. Me, I've always been a teeth grinder, and I never found out what was causing it. I use a night guard. I have eliminated yeast, parasites, on a bunch of supplements, etc., but I don't have the guts to stop using the night guard. I used to get headaches daily before using it, not to mention sore and popping jaw. Oh, my son's teeth grinding increases A LOT when he's congested. Maybe your son's is the result of yeast die-off in his sinuses??? Guest guest
You are describing my son exactly. We are still trying many things but cant find anything that can help him. He grinds his teeth, doesnt chew well and then the opening/closing on jaw. Let me know if you find something that helps. Thanks, Maya > > Hi Listmates, > > My son is on 121 days of antifungal (Nizarol) and about 3 weeks back, he started grinding his teeth both day and night. Guest guest
Just throwing this out there........ again just throwing this out there... My son is 6 and is also a severe teeth grinder!!! So bad that he has ground through his first set of teeth and starting on his permanent. My Dentist said that he's seen parents try everything and that there isn't anything that can be done and to just leave him to do it. (I don't agree, just letting you know what our dentist said) But, one time we were at a DAN! clinic and I got the chance to talk to one of the autistic girls there who is 16 and she was non-verbal but her mother told me that I can ask her anything and she will spell out her answer. ....So I asked her why does she gring her teeth and she spelled out P-A-I-N ...So I asked her where, and she spelled out H-E-A-D. I then asked if she knew what a migraine was and she spelled Y-E-S, I asked " is the pain like a bad migraine and that 's why you grind to relieve the pain " and again she spelled out Y-E-S. Her mother then told me that she told her that it's the couner pressure of the grinding that relieves the pain. I don't know if this is true for all autistic children, just this girl imparticular, But I guess it's something to consider. I sort of go off of this girls account myself though and when my son is grinding really bad, I turn down the lights, don't talk and get him his blanket and put in a quiet non-stimulating movie and .....what do ya know....it does the trick. Again may not be the case for everybody, just thought I would throw this out there. hth, Rose ________________________________ From: mywonderbaby <mywonderbaby@...> Sent: Monday, October 12, 2009 10:44:18 AM Subject: [ ] Re: HELP - excessive teeth grinding and jaw pain? Guest guest
Many ASD kids get high doses of zinc, and this is antagonistic to copper which relaxes the jaw. Next time you have a hair test done and if copper is low and zinc is high, reduce zinc! Copper is still an essential mineral, and toxicity these days are rare (unless you have copper pipes in your home, etc). Balance is the key here. Guest guest
This resonates with me...and meshes with our experience with my girl's migraines moments. elizabeth > > Just throwing this out there........ again just throwing this out there... > > My son is 6 and is also a severe teeth grinder!!! Guest guest
We found CST and nightly to relax the muscles of the jaw, neck, and lower skull, scalp was helpful. > > > > Hi Listmates, > > > > My son is on 121 days of antifungal (Nizarol) and about 3 weeks back, he started grinding his teeth both day and night.
